My horse had a chip removed last fall, and the vet told me to ice it after a run. Just wanting to see if anyone has any creative ways to do this. It's such a hard area to wrap or ice.

Cheap and effective. Buy cheap maxi pads. wet and freeze. They stay where you put them and are good for about 30 minutes of cold. hold in place with vet wrap.

Can I just use a thick cloth?

To hold the Maxi pads in place? If you can get everything to stay where you want it, why not?

If you are looking for any cheap way then use any cloth and place ice inside it. What about ice packs?

I needed to ice my mare's knee one time so I put some ice in a ziplock bag, put a paper towel against her knee, then the ice bag, and vet wrapped it around her knee. It did work. I have some friends that will wet and freeze a standing wrap and then put it on the leg so that may work a little better :)
