Anybody in the southern states deal with this issue? If so how do you manage your horse? Has anybody had any luck with allergy shots for this condition?

Just a word of caution to have your horse scoped to be sure it is just allergies.
My horse was coughing and had a runny nose, I thought it was just allegies till he bled and I had him scoped and discovered he had nasopharyngeal cicatrix- scarring on the phayrnx.  It is a very serious condition that left untreated can lead to the need for a trachea.  It is a condition that is found mostly in the southern coastal states.  All 4 of my horses had it, symptoms started when we moved to our new place,  they all responded well to a vaccine that has been found to halt the progress.

What symptoms does your horse have?
I have two that get sores on their face, chin, neck, and flanks from summer pasture. I try to keep them off as much as possible. It also seems to help when the grass is cut short after baling. I had a local vet that gave one antihistamines, then found out later that they can be dangerous.
I had another that had irritation in her nasal cavity that caused her to drip blood from her nostrils. I can't remember exactly what we did with her... I had her scoped of course, then seems like antibiotics and time? Sorry I'm not much help with this one. I've sold her sense.
Anyway, lots of possibilities with allergy symptoms...

My gelding has been scoped twice. He symptoms include coughing and heavy breathing with turned out on Summer Pasture. He is improving by being in a stall for the past few days. I have questioned a vet regarding putting him on allergy shots but was told that he would have to stay in his stall even with the shots. Just wondering if anyone in the Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, or Florida areas have dealt with this and how they are managing their horses.

our gelding is allergic to the bacteria that is natually accuring in grass when the humidity is high and temps up. he lives in a very large stall with fans. after the first freeze he is out 24\7. he eats alot of allergy stuff and we have a pretty good handle on his condition. this is our 3rd. summer dealing with this. we took all the sawdust bedding from his stall and replaced it with yellow sand, we keep it damp. he's hay is always wet, not soaked.
