| Ugg, the spin. Heard Chris say the New York Times got it right when they said the pres "allowed" the air strikes , not authorized them. The very first line of the article uses the owrd authorized, lol. Keep spinning it Chris, your Nobel Peace Prize pres has quite a kill list. ISIS needs to be wiped out and the lack of our involvement in Siria led to this crisis. He was warned by many this would happen. Obama Allows Limited Airstrikes on ISIS WASHINGTON — President Obama on Thursday announced he had authorized limited airstrikes against Islamic militants in Iraq, scrambling to avert the fall of the Kurdish capital, Erbil, and returning the United States to a significant battlefield role in Iraq for the first time since the last American soldier left the country at the end of 2011. Speaking at the White House on Thursday night, Mr. Obama also said that American military aircraft had dropped food and water to tens of thousands of Iraqis trapped on a barren mountain range in northwestern Iraq, having fled the militants, from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, who threaten them with what Mr. Obama called “genocide.” “Earlier this week, one Iraqi cried that there is no one coming to help,” Mr. Obama said in a somber statement delivered from the State Dining Room. “Well, today America is coming to help.” Continue reading the main story RELATED COVERAGE The president insisted that these military operations did not amount to a full-scale re-engagement in Iraq. But the relentless advance of the militants, whom he described as “barbaric,” has put them within a 30-minute drive of Erbil, raising an immediate danger for the American

I totally agree with you. But on the other hand, I chuckle because - it isn't like any of them would be doing anything productive anyways.
This country is a mess, and it is heartbreaking :( | |

| RocketPilot - 2014-08-08 4:51 PM Not wanting to start an argument. What should he have done? Is it just the wording of the release? Or do you think he should have done nothing? If by he you mean Chris Matthews, his whole take was that Obama is "allowing" this but not "authorizing" it,like it was not really Obama's decision. Obama is still the world unifer and not doing the same thing other presidents did when this type of action was required. It is all semantics and he refuse to see Obama any other way. Obama ordered bombs to be dropped, period. It is killing Chris Matthews to try and say that. If by he you mean the president, he was advised to leave a strong presence in the middle east to prevent these radicals from resurging. As soon as we left they took over cities and the tanks and weapons we left for those cities to defend themselves. I support Obama's decision to finally step up to the plate and make the hard call. I hope it is not too little too late.
