Ok ladies, needing some input. Im planning my sis in laws batchelorette weekend. We are thinking Ft. Worth Stock Yards. I have never been. Does anyone have recommendations of which places to go/things to do? We enjoy  Country, Texas Country music and live bands are a plus. Also what are some cool things to do during the day?

Thanks in advance,

go to Billy Bobs for the experience. There are other great bars to go to as well but that one is HUGE. Shopping in downtown is great but can get $$$$...

Billy Bobs! Stay at a hotel in the stockyards so you can walk back to your hotel after the party!

Start at Billy Bob's if you have never been. Stay at the hotel... There are plenty of bars to go bar hopping all over the place down there.

Have fun!

We went recently and stayed at the Stockyards Hotel.  It was kind of fun. We ate at the H-3 and shopped.  We didn't do BillyBobs.

The stockyards are where we always do birthdays and bachelorette parties. We don't do billy bobs ever. We go to PR's, Cadillac's, Philthy McNasty's, and Neon Moon. Nearly every restaurant down there is good, and the stockyards hotel rooms are expensive, around $300 a night, we stay there sometimes, or we go to the hilton garden inn about 5min away and take a cab to and from.

Check out the website Miss Molly's Hotel!

They have a section on things to do - but the hotel is REALLY cool, also - read about it.

My friend's love to stay there for weekend getaways - I came upstairs, met the "inn keeper" who dresses the part...it's an intimate atmosphere - would be great for a group of bachelorette's! People that stay there bring food/drinks -- put it in the kitchen -- hang out and talk in passing  - between the bar hopping/tourist attractions.

Edited to add: When it says "different and unique" -- it is!  I just remembered the bathrooms are "down the hall" - you don't have your own private bath in each room - it is a step back in time, for sure - I haven't stayed there, but LOVED touring the place when my friends stayed there - and I want to someday!

Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum is great, too!

Get on I20W and check out Teskey's Circle T Saddlery in Weatherford. The store in HUUUGE and it's not far from downtown Ft. Worth. Great place to hang out all day. Cafe for lunch even! 8am-6pm Closed Sundays. You know you want to!

M L Leddy's is my home away from home when in Ft Worth. It's the place that has the good stuff, and a great place to see some of the best custom made gear in the world.

If you're into history, beautiful wood work, wooden doors with frosted glass panes and old wooden floors visit the actual Fort Worth Stockyards building-It's been a few years, but I enjoyed looking at the old exchange building. They don't put the craftsmanship in buildings like they used to. There are no shops in it, but it was open to the public last time I was there. Windy Ryon's Western Store used to be THE PLACE to go at the stockyards, but it went downhill after Windy died. I'm not even sure if there's a Ryon's Western Store there anymore.

Im gonna be real honest.....i hate billy bobs. Its over crowded, you cant dance, you can barely hear the music over the roar of the crowd and if you want a drink...get ready to wait in a long line. Same for the bathroom. THe lines have been so long before I darted into the mens restroom..which by the way i do recommend, but when nature calls.....HOWEVER if youve never been you really should go for like an hour or two and then move on if you want. Theres alot of history in that bar and its pretty cool. I just personally cant stand BB.

My favorite bars are PR's, Cadillacs, The White Elephant.....theres a few more whos names escapes me. Neon moon is a good dance bar and fast service for drinks BUT its 18 and up so be prepared for every 18 yr old with a hot bod to be shakin her thang lol I personally like Neon Moon because they play a variety of country and pop.

However my all time favorite bar is in Arlington. Cowboys. Older crowd, mostly country music and some pop/line dancing music....They play all kinds of great country music not just todays country. Alcohol is cheap, no teenagers to deal with, and the men are of the 30+ crowd so they arent afraid to ask you to dance :)

We went to Ryon's when we were in town for The American and we weren't impressed.  I love looking at tack but it wasn't what I expected.  They had a bunch of clothes though, if you're looking for jeans and such.
But the Stockyards was a cool place to check out, I'm glad we went!

Yes, the Exchange Building is beautiful! There's a free museum in there with all kinds of Stockyards artifacts. If you miss the daily cattle drive, you can go see the longhorns out the back door of the Exchange Building. And if you're in the cattle biz, Superior Livestock has an office in the Exchange Buildng which is pretty cool. If you look around the Exchange Building, you can see remnants of the old packing plants and the pens.

Cadillac is my favorite bar in the Stockyards!
When we lived in TX we always went to the NCHA Futurity and stayed in the stockyards so we could walk to all the bars.
We used to stay at a little hotel kitty corner from the Cadillac and across the street from the late night Mexican restaurant that everyone would eat at after the bars closed... Hotel Texas? Old and stinky but cheap.
Billy Bob's is okay, good people watching! Also liked the White Elephant and few other smaller bars.

The exchange building and museum is very interesting, loved looking through it. Loved seeing some of the old pens and alley ways, wish I could of seen it back in it's hay-day.

The first time I went to Ryon's I felt like a kid in a candy store. The only western stores I'd been in were small, had more clothes than tack and would have less than a dozen saddles on hand. Plus there weren't that many stores devoted to horsemen. This was before the day of the mega stores-no Walmarts, Home Depots, National Ropers Supply, etc. Ryon's had at least a hundred saddles (maybe two hundred it's been a long time) in their display room. They had any piece of western tack, supplies or clothes you could think of. Today we have Dennard's, NRS, Smith Bros, Teskey's, Paul Taylor's, plus catalog companies out the wazoo. Sorry i got off track of places to visit in Texas.
