| Have you ever run into a mold problem? Its extremely hot where I live right now. I know this feed has a sweet feed-like consistancy. I had purchased a bag of ultium not too long ago and noticed at the bottom of my barrel there was mold. Just found out my feedstoreisnt going to be carrying my grain anymore which was blue bonnet omega force. They will be keeping Triple Crown Sr in stock though. Im feeding 3 horses. 14,13 & 7 yrs old.. fairly easy keepers .. 7yr old on the leaner side though. Is the Triple Crown Sr ideal feed? Ive only been feeding approx 4lbs of the omega force to them daily wuth great results. I like to keep the starch low and fat higher. My hay is pretty decent. There is very little pasture/grass where I am. |

Location: Kentucky | I've fed TC Senior for years and never had a mold problem. I've had an issue where the feed store has old bags and it can get clumpy, but since I've complained about it they rotate it much more often. |

Location: Paradise , tx | I live in Texas and its very hot, and so far I have not had a problem with TC molding. But I try not to buy to much to at a time or keep to much stored just to be safe. But I would also be iterested if anyone has ever had a problem with it. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I had a lot of problems with it being as hard as a brick this winter. They claimed one of the sprayers that spray the oil broke and it was putting in too much oil. I never had a mold problem. You need to learn how to read their labels to insure you're not getting old feed. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | I have been very pleased with the TC Senior as it has put weight back on my older guy. It has been warm and very wet here...all of my tack had to be moved into the A/C to avoid mold...but the feed has not been an issue.
I always check the tag for the milling date. They used to use a code for the tags that you could read to figure out the milling date...but the past few batches have had the actual date easy to read in "english" right on them.

Thats another concern .. we have freezing winters here too. I sure dont want to deal with frozen feed either. I like the low nsc on the triple crown sr too. Typically I only buy 3-5 bags at a time to keep it pretty fresh. The omega force is a dry pelleted feed so I dont woery about molding. Hate that they aren't going to be carrying it anymore! I was told the price for Triple Crown Sr. Is $22.95 . |

Location: Bandera, TX | I have recently switched from TC Senior to ADM Senior Glow.
I was having issues with the consistancy and freshness of the TC Senior - which was the feed stores fault and not TC. I think it is great feed if you can get it fresh. My feed store quit selling it.... Now feeding ADM Senior Glow which is a great feed and a couple fo dollars cheaper. |

Ive fed the ADM Sr. Glo in the past. I thought it was pretty decent. But I was paying $26 a bag here! For some crazy reason my feed prices are a bit inflated here! |

I pay $22, but get it through a friend, who has a friend who knows a dealer.... I have to plan exacatly how much I need as I can't just go to the store in my town and get it. Next town over charges $28 per bag or some outrages sum.... |

| I bought some recently and it was so hard I could barely get it out of the bag and horses didn't like it. I use to feed it all the time and never had a problem . I do know our feed store has had to send several pallets of feed back due to bad feed, excessive oil to the point it was pouring from the bag. Our store sells enough of it that is does not sit around for long. I won't buy any more unless it gets better. I pay $26.00 a bag . I only have one old guy who has to have sr so I have options for the others. It is typically a good feed though. |

| I forgot .. didn't Nutrena take over milling for Triple Crown? Anyone ever hear of Hi-pro feed? I can get that locally. I just wasn't that impressed by the ingredients and looking at an opened bag of it at the feed store.

Mine comes from their plant in MN, which is not ran by Nutrena. |

Location: South MS | I love triple crown. Never had a problem with it. I know in order for a horse to get all nutritional needs they need 5# per day. I feed one 3 qt scp x2 per day for 6# and my 2 horses look awesome. One of mine is 38 years old and the triple crown is helping me put weight back on him finally. |

It depends on the mill. And Nutrena still uses the same fixed formula as the other TC mills.
Nutrena and TC merged, but I think that was more for distribution and profit purposes. The formula has not changed.
As to the OP's question, I only had an issue with mold once, and it was because the feed was shipped in the rain. The top bags got wet, and the ends had some mold. Contact them and they will replace it for you.
The excess oily feeling can be from feed that is very freshly mixed. Over time, the beet pulp sucks up the oil and the feed appears drier. So it may seem that the quality is changing, but realisitcally you are just seeing natural "aging" of the feed, if you will.
If you ever have any questions regarding manufacturing date or quality, email TC. They are prompt at responding, look at photos for you, and will replace feed if needed. Great customer service.
I board at a new place now, so my horse gets the barn feed. However, when I bought my own feed, I was really happy with TC (I fed the Complete, not the senior) |

Thanks.
Ive never fed a textured feed in my life. Id love to find a feed I can get locally. I have to drive an hour an a half to get what I want. Its a pain. Locally I can get Purina, Nutrena and ADM and this Hi-Pro stuff. The ADM dealer is touch n go. They dont stay well stocked and the few bags I did purchase from them i had to return because of freshness issues. |
