I bought something at the feed store and it's the best wasp spray I've used. Drops them as soon as it hits them. We just soak the nest and all the ones we see.....it's worked if we can find the nest. Doesn't work so well if you're just hitting random wasps....other than it will drop them when they dive bomb you. It's called Bonide Wasp and Hornet Killer. Trusted since 1926 is what it says on the label. Here is what else it says: - Prevents nesting
- Jet spray will reach nests up to 20' above ground
- Kills Wasps, Honets, & Carpenter Bees on contact
- Kills the entire nest
- Dielectric Breakdown Voltage of 47,300 Volts (whatever that means....)
Unless I miss my guess... the spray will act as an insulator up to that voltage.... Then the insulating properties start to break down and it will conduct electricity. 47k volts is not all that much so be careful about spraying open wiring.

start looking for other smaller nests! we thought we just had one big giant nest. knocked that one out and discovered smaller nests in a build! didn't even think to look for them until I watched my dog being chased off of our deck by these mean little things! |

| So I walk out yesterday to do chores. take 3 steps off the deck and BAM! I get stung in the top of my head. I get away, turn around and look and the is a hugh paper nest hanging low in the tree I have been walking under everyday......when did they build that??!
So while I was gone, at a rodeo, hubby soaked it last night in wasp spray and ether, then set it on fire. Hopefully they were all home at the time.
What's the deal with the wasps this year? |

What's the deal with the wasps this year?
we were at a pool party and the family just bought a slide for their pool and the kids were going down it all day. all of the sudden there is a kid screaming bloody murder, got stung by a yellow jacket while going into the pool.. We hadn't seen one at all. the kids were scooting around that slide all day and then we see a football sized nest under their new slide that they bought a week ago.... what the heck
they must move pretty dang quick!! |

We've killed probably 3 or 4 nests this year around the barnyard. Freakin' lil bastards!!!! |

Location: SW MO | I've always been afraid of getting stung on the head or neck. If I get stung on the foot it will swell clear to my knee or on the hand it swell to my elbow. I'd hate to see what I looked like if I got stung on the face or head |

Strange as it sounds... gasoline on the sting stops it in it's tracks... I used to be like you. I'd get stung on the finger and my whole arm would swell up.... Then I took the advice of an old man back home in Missouri and one time I got stung on the arm and I had a can of gas close by. I soaked a rag and held it on the sting for about 5 mins. It never got any larger than a skeeter bite and it has worked every time since. I guess the gas is absorbed into the skin and it neutralizes the venom as it pass by. |
