Update* lastnight she was given Banamine orally @ 9pm and by 11 she felt much better and today she's back to pretty much normal although she's been going for leafy alfalfa over any stems since this sickness. We are upping her omeprazole to a full tube daily because she's only been on 1/4 daily. But in 3-4days she typically shows symptoms again so we shall see. Also she has not been running a temp

when they have hind gut ulcers they will go for the leafy alfalfa as it makes their tummy feel better. I would soak alf and timothy pellets. No stems allowed!

I thought no grain or pellets with ulcers? Are the hay pellets different or cubes better?

Why was this horse not put on Biosponge to reset the flora and help clear the diarreha?  That would have been the first thing to do with diarreha that bad!  And the smelly poop is from Salmonella, horses are natural carriers and when they get this out of whack with their gut flora, the salmonella takes over.  It is very contagious to humans, too... in MPO this horse should not have left the vet until that was under control to keep anyone from being contaminated with salmonella!  Get some biosponge and start adding that to the routine, but you have to give it 1 hour before or after any other meds, as it will absorb the other meds too.

My gelding has bouts of diahreah only at horse shows, Or in times of high stress, slowly it got to where he was doing it all the time, dull coat, larhatgic, he was not reactive to trigger points for ulcers, recently tested stool for worms, he was clear, but last year he was on sweet feed, figured it was hindgut acidosis, switched him to a pelleted feed, pleanty of turn out on grass 24/7, gave him probios , and flax seed oil, at out barrel racing finals he did not have one loose stool the entire weekend!

And from what I have read omeprezole will not help hindgut issues. Could someone please let me know if I'm correct on this?

but do they get better every 3-4days? That's the weird thing we're trying to figure out is why dues she get better then goes down for one day then gets better and this cycle just keeps repeating
