We have a 2011 3500 Duramax that we purchased in February 14 and it has been in the shop 5 times. The DEF service light or poor quality light comes on all the time. And the ck engine light. This truck had 55K miles on it when we got it, it now has 59K. About 3 weeks ago it went back to the shop for a new transmission computer. This truck has been a nightmare!! With this low of miles, this truck should not be in the shop this much. It is currently back at Chevy with the Service Exhaust Fluid light on and the Check Engine Light on. Luckily, so far, it has all been covered under warranty but I don't trust this truck now and want rid of it!! Anyone else experience these issues?

You have a truck with all the latest emmissions BS on it... I won't even look at a 2009 or newer truck for that reason.

My 2011 had the same thing...poor exhaust fluid light and check engine light.  It needed a new DEF tank, which was covered under warranty.  My pick up has been in the shop several times, too, but I blame that on the dealership I've been using.  It's like they weren't fixing it; just trying to mask it.

I wouldn't own a 2011. The only issue I've had with my 2010 so far was caused from the wreck it was in before I bought it. And my mom's 2015 is a beast. Anything between, no thanks.

That is exactly what I feel like!! Unfortunately they have put everything new on that is related to the DEF. I have researched it a lot and the main thing I come up with is it needs a new main computer. I have told the Chevy dealership this and not sure what they are going to do! I just want it fixed and fixed right!! This truck needs to go bye bye in my opinion but convincing the hubby of that is not happening yet!! Hopefully soon!

Yes, I agree...looking back the 2011 probably wasn't the best choice due to the fact that was the first year they put the DEF tank on. But I do have to say that I like having the DEF tank better than how my husband's 2008 Duramax emissions system works. I think once his hits 100,000 he's going to do the EGR delete kit on it.

I'm pretty happy with my 2011 all in all, though. It was frustrating to have it in the shop several times for two seperate issues, but from the sounds of it I've had it easy compared to some other owners of 2011's.

Have you called GM directly?  When I was getting the run around on one of my issues I ended up calling GM and telling them that I was getting the run around from the dealership.  GM will follow up with the dealership and make sure your issue gets solved.  My dealership kept saying they couldn't duplicate the issue, so there was nothing they could do.  That's when I called GM and low and behold, the issue was solved.

I have a 2012 Dodge 3500 Dually and I LOVE it. I get between 18-20 MPG.

Sadly, I was in a wreck last year (not with the truck) and my insurance is $280 a MONTH.. so my baby's gotta go.

That will probably be our next step if we get it back this time and it still has the same issues. All I know is it is getting very old!! They either need to fix it and fix it right or we need to just swap vehicles while this thing still has warranty!!

That is the frustrating part...feeling like you have the warranty for a reason and they can't fix it...there's a point you start to worry you'll run out of warranty before it's fixed.

HotbearLVR - 2014-08-25 9:18 PM These pickup threads are always the same.  Reminds me of a Clint Eastwood quote:  "Opinions are like as$holes.....everybody has one."
YUP! The folks who like Chevys say they are the best and the folks who like Fords like them better! (I have a 2006 Dodge 3500 that I am VERY happy with, for the record).
PS - NO idea why my font changed!

For those of yall dodge people who believe the trannys are junk the jasper salesman said to buy a larger oil pan for, trans you can buy them aftermarket and keep the fluid changed regular like 40k miles. Love my 2006. i have a cold air intake, a five inch exhaust and a edge just with a attitude and it is a beast and that is econ mode. In any mode it will smoke the tires. All dodges 2003-2008 have a recall for left lower ball joint if you have replaced you can be reinbursed by chrysler when youmsend a copy of the ticket in. I service a few diesel trucks and the only unhappy people have 6.0 fords. My farrier has one that has set in his yard since about 60 days after he bought the darn thing.
