My mare does well in a lighter bit. She's VERY responsive and doesnt need much.  She gets really bent up in her turns, and I lose time (and often position) getting her straightened out to go to the next one. Throw me some bit ideas plz.

Mullen Mouth bit?  Combo bit?

A combo usually stiffens mine up.  I have heard a mullen mouth will as well.

Is she over bending in her ribcage or being a noodle neck?

I would say a little of both but more so in the neck.

I second the Mullen mouth. I had the same problem with my very bendy mare. Combo bits i tried were way too much. I ended up running her in a butterfly freter with a Mullen mouth.

I can't remember. I bought it a long time ago and just had it in my tack room. I started trying out different bits when my mare was over bending with the snaffles I was running in and that one just worked. I know the correct name for it is Butterfly Freter, of you do a search, you should find several places that sell it. It wasn't a very expensive bit.

I would suggest the SC 7  4" NO GAG from www.shallowcreekbit.com with the mullen mouthpiece.  The mullen mouthpiece will take some of the bend out.

I had a mare that didn't need much bit but would get bendy and I would switch between an oring to an oring combo with nose band.
