| Anyone here have experience with Epulis growths in a dog's mouth? My boxer seemingly grew one over night and I had it removed immediately. I am now waiting on biopsy results. He is only 4 and outwardly in absolute perfect health. Shiny bright coat, eyes, normal appetite, bathroom habits, energy. The growth was on a stalk orginating from a lower canine tooth and had a cauliflower like bunch hanging from it. About the size of a marble. The vet said he wanted to get lab results back before he speculated. I am SICK over it. Reads online like a common benign growth but my mind goes instantly to cancer and I can barely stomach waiting. You'd think if something serious was wrong there would be additional problems? prayers? thoughts? experiences? |

Location: NOT at Wal Mart | Did your Vet do a CBC and urinalysis, you need a baseline. Also radiographs of the maxillary and mandibular, to see if the tumors invaded the bone. We did surgery on several boxers and had to remove maxillary and mandibular bone. They lived a long life just had to eat soft food. Good luck with your dog they're like family I know! |

Location: wherever my daughter's running | Prayers for a good lab report and hugs to you. Ironically my daugher found a growth in her dogs mouth last night. Her dog is part boxer and the same age as yours. Our vet removed the growth this morning and is being sent off. I can so relate to your post. I did a little research last night and based on what I found on the internet, if it is the growth you mentioned, those are benigin and Boxers are prone to them. They do have a tendency to come back. I am sure your vet will give you full details once the lab results are in. It is the waiting that is the hard part now. Please update when you get the results. |

| thanks for the thoughts and info. Cruise that is nuts and I am glad I posted this for your benefit as well. This is a small town vet, he is basically letting the university lab determine what it is and go from there. He did a great job removing it, I think maybe a single stitch. I've been checking his mouth now constantly and so far no change. Either that thing sprouted up over night or it was really well hidden in his boxer chops...not sure. I did read that in some instances the tumor was not cancer but still invasive and parts of the jaws needed to be removed. I am just so hoping that I caught it really early and that it will be fine. I just am trying to focus on how he doesn't look "sick" in the slightest so how could something be so bad? Waiting is the worst. I come up with a million things that are worst-case scenarios and probably highly unlikely. |

| BENIGN EPULIS! phew, you guys I feel like a giant weight just lifted off my chest. Vet just called and the lab reported great results with it unlikely to even return. Thanks for the good thoughts today. These dogs are so much more than pets...not many understand that but everyone here does. So thanks. |
