My farrier called the other night and said she had a new idea for Floyds crappy feet. Something to do with casting matierial. Any of you farriers out there ever done it? I think she just learned about it and is going to use Floyd as a guenea pig (spelling). Most of you already know that I have fought with Floyd's brittle feet for 15 years, and have tried everything I could afford in that time frame. I have the most trouble when we get a lot of moisture.

I haven't used casting materials ... but my farrier has used an acrylic hoof glue stuff on a gelding I leased a summer back ... it worked.

SOOOOOO - a guy at the barn where I go ride/work my filly was putting the casting stuff on his horse that has super thin side walls last night! Crazy enough, I thought of this thread and I asked questions!

The farrier said its' the third horse he's used it on. He likes it because you can nail to it - this allows the hoof to grow without putting more holes/nails and stress on the actual hoof. The gelding they were putting it on is a calf horse so he really sits and uses his hind end which happens to be the two feet they were using the material on ... I will keep ya updated on it!
