That just plain sucks :(:(:(

This is why we are NOT going to do the bone graft surgery on my 4 year old to fix the hole in his face.  Because the risks are greater then the benefits.  Right now the hole isn't causing any issues, and surgery is always a huge risk with horses when you have to knock them out completely.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this.

My heart goes out to you, I have also been there more than once.  Its ok to cry and  just feel bad.  These things never make sense and all I can figure is God has another purpose and plan.  Hugs and prayers to you and I hope you find that dream

Thank you all for the prayers and hugs. It was hard to get that typed down and out of my head. The vet called us last night and said that she had a blood-clot go to her heart and with the anesthesia it just made things worse. Me and my husband spent the rest of the day grieving yesterday but I think we are over the initial shock of it and trying to look at it more at a business point of view. We are also very thankful for the vet not charging us the cost of the whole surgical procedure, just the "taking away from the facility" amount.

I am very sorry for your loss. I always worry when we put one in surgery. Does this vet do a lot of surgeries, like a big fancy facility? That was nice of him to lower his fees.

Did you ask the vet about the anesthetic? I had a horse do the same thing and he died. They messed up the amount they gave him and it affected his heart. Sorry for your loss.

I'm really sorry to hear about your filly. Reading this really makes me nervous because my finished horse is having surgery in a few weeks to have a chip removed as well.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Find comfort in the fact that she had a good home with you and that you were giving her the best shot by removing the bone chips. We lost my daughter's horse to colic surgery last Thanksgiving. Our Vegas money went to have surgery on the mare. She went 14 days without pooping so we put her down. It was extremely hard. I understand your pain. Surgery is supposed to fix them not lose them. Prayers sent your way!
