So those of you who have satellite tv in your LQ, do you have the roaming dish in the bubble on top of the trailer or the portable dish you set up outside when you get parked? My hubby would LOVE this! I always feel guilty for him having to miss his football games when he goes with me, but this would sure be nice when you're gone for a weekend or it takes hours to run the barrel race!Â
We had the portable dish you set up outside when you parked, we already had an extra dish from when we had to get a new one at the house. It was easy peasy to get it all set up, and cheap.
But the aggravating part was everytime you set the dish up was fiddling with it until you found "just the right spot" to get your connection. Definitely a two person job! One in the trailer watching the tv yelling out the door at the person twisting and turning the dish.
ETA- I assume people with the bubble don't have these frustrations!

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | Lovin Life - 2014-09-10 3:30 PM Is the advantage to having the genorator on top as opposed to the rear tack/manger agrea that they get more air and cause less fires? Not trying to steal the thread, this is an honest question.
I prefer the ones on the top and I've had both. My under manger one overheated and even though I was religious about keeping the oil checked and changed, it blew up @ 400 hours. My mechanic told me it basically was running so hot down there it cooked itself. Not to mention all the days when it was really hot out, it would vapor lock and not run at all. It always let me down on the days I needed it the most. It got to the point where I had a portable Honda generator in the pickup because I could not count on the under manger Onan to work.
I have not had a single problem with my roof mounted generator, it's already got twice as many hours as my under manger one did and no problems whatsoever. I actually find it easier to change the oil on up on the roof than I did fighting limited space on the under manger mounted one. |

| Mine is a 4 horse, I have a mid tack for tack, a back tack that is used for feed, 50 gallon corner water tank, and I can fit 6 square bales plus my buckets and grain.
The first stall I also have a 50 gallon tank in the corner, I choose not to have mangers due to respiratory issues that can occur.
My mid tack has a 25 gallon water tank. I hate hauling water and when I have 4 horses on for 3 days they drink it all.
My hay rack I use to pack my panels.
For generator, I choose to have a portable one that way I can take it with the holiday trailer and it actually came in handy this week,we had no power for 2 days due to heavy snow we used the generator to power essentials in the house.
A comfy mattress is nice,
A demand water heater is better then the regular water heater. Mine is 5 gallons and some days with a few of us showering quickly we have to wait for hot water.
Soft blinds much nicer then the metal ones,
I have laminate flooring, honestly I would have been fine with Lino as the laminate does scuff. Some offer hardwood, but I would be worried about weight.
With whatever LQ you get make sure your vehicle can handle the weight.
Fully loaded I am 200lbs under my GVW |

| Make sure your black/grey water is on the opposite side of your LQ door. Ours is on the same side and so if we do full hook up we get to enjoy walking over the thing that you use to drain the black/grey water (drawing a blank to the name of it)
We live in TX and the drop downs are nice, but pricey. We have the slats and it's fine in the summer. My horses have never been sweaty because our trailer (Platinum) stays cool in stalls. I would do the collapsible tack if I could do again so you can haul ATV for non-horse camping.
I really like the bars on head side to keep horses heads in. I know the generator is expensive, but we LOVE ours. Especially if you have a young family and you may be traveling by yourself. I didn't want it on this trailer and my husband talked me into it. So worth it!!! |

Location: In my own world | I wanted to add some info about mangers as this always seems to be a big debate because of the respiratory thing and needing the horses to be able to put their heads down. First, mangers come in more than one size. 18" and 22". I have a 7ft wide trailer currently and my stalls measure 90 inches head to tail. My horses can put their heads down and eat on the road.
I had the nice lady at 4 star measure the stall length for me with 18" mangers and it is 89". So I got the smaller mangers and feel like my horses should be able to put their heads down and I will still get a little extra space for storage. Now if you are going to do a in manger generator you can't do the smaller mangers but I'm going roof mount
thanks twistedK for your help!!! |

ours is one on the roof that you crank up. I sometimes watch a NASCAR race while waiting to get my horse ready! |

I may need a pic....this is not something i've seen. It's a satellite dish or an antenna? I told hubby to call our friend that does satellite stuff and see what we can do, what it will cost, etc. The bubble is definitely out for me, as I understand to get that installed is super expensive unfortunately, but the mobile one you set out may be doable. |

Location: not settling | Mangers! I couldn't imagine our trailer without them- major bonus for storage! Microwave and fridge to, especially if you have kids, they are handy!! I like our dinette, mostly for the fact that it provides more counter space and a place to set food or other things if need be. Hated our electric jack, we just got it changed to a manual. Our furnace is a lifesaver- from Canada, can you tell ;)We also got guards put over our tanks and lines underneath in the LQ, after getting a hole in a line underneath and with gravel roads they were a must.
Wish we had a place to mount our generator onto, more storage space inside the LQ for clothes and a bigger shower!

I would love a keyless entry. Do they make them for trailers? |
