I am lacking three more races to get my eight in for the year.  I am entered up in the Jud Little Barrel Bash next weekend, but do not have a backup/sub horse and I'm SOL on entry fees... even with vet letter.  Since my name will technically still be in the draw, will those three (Thursday, Friday and Sunday) races still count towards my eight? I can't seem to find anything cut and dry in the rules.

Not technically.  I believe you actually have to be present.

Is walking out and crossing the timer with your own body possible?  lol For once, I wish I could just "buy my way in"!  $225 down the drain.  Stinkin' "limited" entry races..

I'm so sorry!  That's the part I HATE about pre-entering....I want to bubble wrap my filly until after next weekend.  I've never been and really looking forward to it.
Since you're out of luck on the fees - just lope your colt thru.

I don't have a colt :(  we have some friends that have an old horse of my husband's and they said I'd be welcome to enter him anytime, but I know we wouldn't be able to do anything other than a trot, but plenty of BBR Approved local races coming up that I could enter him up in... just more $ to spend.  He's not worth the gas money and stalling stress to "compete" on.  Just wish those Ardmore entries counted! lol

Bubble wrapping horses should be a viable solution.  If someone could make something that would completely protect horses from the world I would get behind it 100%!!
Best of luck to you!  I told my hauling partner that I would probably go ahead and come down Satuday sometime and watch the sale and stick around for Sunday's race!  I have never been either... guess I'll wait until next year to compete!

If you are already entered, just take the other horse and trot the pattern. You will still get your credit and i'm sure have a good time. Then it wouldn't be a complete waste!

Yes, you have to actually be on a horse and participating in order for day/entry to count.
Can you borrow a friends horse to lope through?

Crisis adverted!  The lady that raised my gelding was on BHW last night and saw this thread.  She called me this morning and has a mare that she's offered me to ride.  JLBB, here I come!!

Glad you found a horse.  Yes - you have to physically cross the timer line for your entry to count...found that out the hard way this year myself.  I don't know if they've changed that rule recently or not...when I first joined I was told as long as you paid your entry fees it counted as an entry.  That may or not have been true at the time, but I know it was a big selling point for getting people to join when the BBR was just getting started.  I know an association I used to run with (they've folded since then) listed no shows the same was as no-times - with a 99.999...so that may have been why people got credit even if they didn't run.

Personally, I think if you pay the entry fee & don't get a refund - and you usually don't on pre-entry races - then it should count.  After all - you paid the same $$ everybody else did, you just didn't get a chance to win any back.  I honestly don't know if I'm going to renew my membership or not next year...I didn't mind losing entry fees so much because I thought I was at least getting credit for entering the race.  Now you don't even get that...you're basically being double-penalized for life happening.  Not like they're gonna miss my measely $50 anyway...
