Well huh...I'll have to give that a go...

Isn't it women who are usually the direction readers anyway? I guess we lose this one big time...

My boyfriend reads the labels on everything. Not so much at the time of use to follow the directions, but it's kind of a compulsive habit. I'll have to start leaving my horse care products around the house for him so he can properly instruct me in their actual use...

I usually buy cheap stuff because I rinse off most my horses everyday anyway. Still funny, I would have NEVER thought to read that either! LOL

Just beaware...My horse is very sensitive and by spraying him the suggested way it burnt his skin. Luckily I only tried it on one spot. I have to spray him very lightly or it will scurf him.

I tried this morning! I have the Pyrhana in the blue bottle. My hubby shod my mare this morning so I tried this (after I read the directions!) and tonight when I did chores she was the only one not fighting the flies. I was going to go ahead and do the others but its supposed to rain tonight.

What kind of fly spray do you use?

I can't use Pyrana on mine at all or they scurf and swell up.

I had to look up scurf!   I have never heard that term for anything.. Now that I have learned something to day I'm good.

Scurf = Dry flaky skin usually caused by abnormal skin condition, they used dandruff as an example.
I can see where the term would be used in this context.

did mine on the 18th and it's the 22nd and they still aren't swishing their tails, their face and ears are a different story. the gnats are relentless! but their body is fly/gnat free! I also realised how much fly spray i have wasted over the years....

On the Pyranah that is making the horses scurf...are you using the oil base (Yellow bottle) or the water based (blue bottle) or does it make a difference on yours? I ask because I've used the yellow oil based for years with no issues. Then a year ago July up in Pendleton, I had gotten up about 5 am and ridden the horses, fly sprayed them and went up to the apartment over the pastures we were staying at. I looked down and my mare was getting down on her front knees and acting like she wanted to roll but then would only scrub her neck on the ground and get back up. After watching her repeat this several times I thought maybe she was colicky so I ran down with the stethoscope and the banamine, listened to her gut which had good gut noises, checked her gums then realized she had welts on her skin. Ran her up and hosed her off, usually she hates to be hosed off, she was more than happy to stand and get rinsed this time however. I only used the water based formula on her now.

Tried it this way yesterday and it worked wonders! So glad someone decided to read directions and let all of us know. Curious to see how long it will last.

How could I not?? We have had SOOOO many fly threads, fly spray, fly sheets, fly masks. AND I also wanted to make sure it worked on more than just my horses!

I did this Monday and let me tell you, my guys gave me ugly looks when I back brushed them and didn't immediately fix it, lol. It worked for 1 and a half days. But we recently got a good rain and the mosquitoes are crazy right now. That is alot better than the usual 20 minutes. I will happily continue with this method.
Thanks suzy2qtee!

Yeah...CC gave me the "I'll butter your head, pin your ears back and swallow you whole" look when I back brushed her too. The other two weren't quite so touchy about it thank goodness.
