Location: California | My husband and I are in the process of deciding on a vehicle that will be good for when we start our little family (hopefully next year!). I drive a Dodge Challenger right now which is so much fun, but definitely not kid friendly! We thought about getting another F150 because we love my husband's, but they are ridiculously priced right now and would be way above our budget...
So that has me looking at Ford Edges. They seem like a neat little car. My only worry is if people find that they end up being too small or cramped. Can anybody give me their thoughts on these cars please? |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | I'll have had mine 6 years at Christmas and I LOVE it still! I find it to be the perfect size. I'm really short and absolutely hate driving a car because I do not like to be so far down where I cannot see anything. It sits me up like a pickup or suv so I can see around me, but drives smooth like a car. I take feed home in it all the time. We have had one child since I've owned this car and it's easy to get him in and out of, but he's close enough to me that I can reach dropped toys or cups most of the time (or get after him if need be). They are the perfect size as far as plenty of room for groceries/feed but small enough to get in any parking spot.
I'm actually coming up on 95k miles on mine so we've been talking about my next vehicle, and I'm definitely wanting another edge. Hubby wants me to get a half ton pickup, but I'm so in love with my Edge that it will be hard to want to change. |

Just an FYI, you say you are trying to start a family next year, so my guess is you are not in a big hurry to go car shopping. And you really love your husbands F150..... So, why not wait a couple of months and go look at a 2014 F150. I got mine last year in October (mine is a 2013) and you wouldn't believe the discounts we got because of the fact that is was a 2013. They want to move them "older" ones so they have room for the new ones. (2015 in this case)
I originaly wanted to look at the Mazda CX5, but the F150 ended up way cheaper than the Mazda. And now I would not trade my truck in for anything...

This is helpful information! I was worried that the back seat wouldn't be "adult friendly" as far as leg room goes. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I drove one for about 8 months. I really liked it, but it wasn't large enough to meet my needs, especially after the second kid got here. I traded for a Chevy traverse and have been much happier with the size of that one. Had it nearly 6 years now and planning to keep it a couple more. |

| I've been looking at the Ford Edge too.. I really like them (and the fuel mileage is nice compared to my dually), but we are tall (I'm 6'2, hubby and his brothers are tall stocky guys) and I'm just not sure if it will be what we need. I'm really wanting a Tahoe, but they are extremely hard to find. |

Location: California | Thanks for all the feedback! We have my dually and hubby's F150, so it is nice having at least one vehicle that gets good gas mileage.
Although I am a little indifferent about giving up my muscle car for a "mom car" |

Location: SE Missouri | I LOVED my Edge!!! Fuel mileage, room, amenities, etc. I bought a 2011 new and I had been in a 2008 Laramie dodge (loaded) and I didn't regret the move. I love those vehicles! I put 78k miles on mine in less than two years! Lots of time in it and never had a single issue with that car! I'd get another if we needed a car again! |

We're looking at the Edge as well. I was wondering what specifically about the Edge wasn't large enough to meet your needs? We've got one kid and trying for another. Now I'm worried that the Edge won't be big enough! |

It makes me wonder how much stuff she carries around at all times that it's not big enough. When we went to Florida we had to pack for 12 days for 4 of us with a cooler, pillows & a fan & still had plenty of room. Though sometimes I do wish I had a 3rd row for more people space. |

This is what I wonder too! With one kid I can't see it being a problem. I need more interior space than I have in my truck right now anyway. Any SUV is going to have more of that. My main objectives are more interior space and better fuel mileage, which is why I'm considering the Edge. I've a few others on my short list, I just have to decide which I like best at this point. |

Location: SE Missouri | I also have driven the 2014 Ford Explorer. VERY VERY nice as well with the 3rd row seating. Drives a touch more like a 1/2 ton truck and you can feel the extra width but still handles awesome. Also good fuel mileage (not as good as the edge). I used the 3rd row seating maybe a couple times. Plenty of room to pick up groceries, horse feed, and haul work stuff! I put 28,000 miles on it in just about 5 months.
Now I'm in the 2014 Ford F150 and all I can say is Ford has nice products! I'm a little bit of a snob on this but my experience plus the fact they didn't take the bailout, IF/when we buy a new vehicle it will be extremely hard NOT to buy a Ford!!!! Plus our dealership is really good to work with on service. I'm a fan (Dodge family for years)..

I like the idea of having an Edge over a truck because you can leave the stroller & other items in the back & don't have to worry about them getting wet or stolen. I had a truck when my son was little & hated having to keep loading & unloading the stroller. |

A couple of issues. One was with 2 car seats in there, there was room for only our family of 4 and no other passengers. You couldn't squeeze another person in the back. Other problem was I frequently ran out of cargo space. This was worse when I had a stroller in there all the time, but even now, I'm frequently thankful for the amount of room I have in the Traverse and usually have the 3rd row laid down or half of it down. I can fit a month's worth of groceries and horse feed at the same time, and I don't have to worry about maxing out my capacity when I go to Sam's every few months. Last week, I had a big rubber tub filled with dog and cat food, alfalfa cubes, and groceries, 6 bags of horse feed, and 2 kids. That would not fit in a smaller space. |

Thanks. These are all good points that I'm taking into consideration. |
