OMG! Loving my OTT QH mare!

Ok, so last Saturday I went to a NBHA barrel race with my OTT QH mare. And she was fairly calm for this being her second time away from home. I brought my two other horses with me so my mom and brother could ride on the trails that was there. I just exhibitioned my mare and I just trotted on the first one, and usually she hunts those barrels but she felt kind of lost in the arena since I didn't get a chance to ride in the arena. I trotted the first time and after that she seemed ok. Well on my next one I decided to canter/trot around the barrels and she did great! She was listening and did really good and we ended up with a 30 something. Well, on my last one with her I decided to canter them all the way. And she's only cantered them about 2 other times. I mostly do a lot of drill and barrel exercise work with her. Well she cantered up to the first really lengthening her stride and then got up under herself to turn it and it was a really good first barrel. Second on the backside was a little further but she made it tight going up to third and then around third she made it in like 2-3 strides around it and gone! And when I have cantered her around the third barrel before I'd always let her have the reins and let her lengthen her stride back home. Well she just booked it back home with lots more to give. It was amazing! After 7 months of basically re-training her it's finally paying off and we ended up with 21.030!!! She's a very quick, fast learner and she's just amazing!
