Roan Wonder Location: SW MO	Everyone you talk to has different opinion on them, just like any blood line. Peptoboonsmal was suggested above. People I know who have had them say a lot of them start bucking when they are 4 or 5 and never quit. I personally haven't ever owned one so I can't tell you. We have a daughter of A Streaka Fling that is very nice mare and rises nice foal. Her foals are very stand offish to start with but once they get used to you they are big gentle pets. For years we have raised Blue Valentine horses & we have never had problem with them bucking most of ours like 99% of them never buck the first time they are saddled. Our stallions we leave out with the mares for a couple of months go get them and ride them right off like it was yesterday. We don't have to warm them up before you ride them. We want a horse you can step on ride off & go to work, not one you have lounge 20 minutes before you ride it. We have several that have done really well in speed events. We have a gelding here now that is a 5 yr old my husband is riding for another guy. The guy never got enough time to break the colt so it came to us as a not started 5 yr old. It is line bred Blue Valentine & Driftwood. The horse has bucked a few times with a saddle, but never with a rider. Even being as old as he was you can leave him several days and not ride him and then saddle him up & off you go, no buck. I will admit there are some Blue Valentine horses that are to big & clunky to make speed horses, as with any horse a lot of it depends on what you have crossed him with

Extreme Veteran Posts: 429 Location: Oxford, Kansas	This is my 2 yr old and I think it's safe to say he has ALOT of Blue Valentine/Hancock influence and I have nevery loved a horse more! Guys Just Wanna Have Fun Posts: 5530 Location: OH	The basis for a lot of the Cowans initial broodmare band were daughters of John Red who was by Red Man the sire of Blue Valentine. In fact, the great PC Bronsin is out of a John Red daughter, so yes--yes I am a fan.
