My daughter has a barrel horse that is at the trainers. He came up slightly off in a front foot a couple of weeks ago (grade 1 lameness) so the trainer took the horse to a vet. The vet found a small lesion on the coffin bone - nothing crazy bad, but it definitely needs to be treated.
The vet is recommending rest, a course of drug therapy (ant-inflammatories, isoxuprine, etc.) for 2-4 weeks, and he also recommended 3-4 Shock Wave Therapy Treatments.
Has anyone had any experiences with Shock Wave and their horse's feet?
Pro and Cons?
Opinions?

I used it on my horse for her collateral ligament tear in her right front foot I think we did three treatments. She healed up great but she also had a special shoe and 1 year off so not sure how much the shockwave helped but it certainly did not hurt!

I had a friend use this for a bowed tendon. The usual 3 treatments and ultrasounds to show progress. It worked great. You could see the progress after each treatment in the ultrasound.
