Location: Louisiana | For some reason, I have been leaning some at the second barrel only. Most of the time I don't, but when I do it's BAD lol. I just about flipped myself over the front this past Sunday bc I was hustling so hard to the second barrel, when my horse sat I didn't! Then, we knocked bc of me throwing him off. I have noticed from videos that it's worse when we nail the first barrel. I think I get so excited I hustle even more and get too far forward. Any suggestions on something to focus on that may help? Thanks in advance!

Location: North Dakota | I focus on the point that I want to run him to. I try to look over his outside shoulder, so i'm not looking at the barrel and then I drive him square between my hands and legs to where I looked, sit, lay the rein against his neck and let him turn. |

OK I just got a new computer and I can't figure out how to save the videos so I can post to youtube. Just imagine that I am badly dropping my shoulder at the second. |

| I do the exact same thing. My horse is very front endy and really raty so its really hard for me to sit up. If you figure it out let me know :) |

| I have the same problem! When we smoke a first barrel, I get over excite and push way too hard in to my second. When I over push, my horse gets really sensitive and sets the second I stop pushing to prepare for the turn. So the second I stop pushing, he'll turn and it's always to early :( |

I'm just teasing, I don't know either. I've recently been able to finally let my horse go and hustle him all the way through and I've suddenly started leaning over his neck like I'm a dang jockey. |

I'm telling you I either sit up the whole time like we're just easing through, or I'm hustling like a mad woman- no happy medium lol. Saturday night we went with a friend and I forgot to grab my breastcollar. I've had a saddle roll before and am terrified of running without one, but I had no choice. I could've sworn it slipped at the first (it didn't-at all), so I made sure to center my weight and we had an awesome second and third. I have tons of videos on my phone and my second is obviously better when I sit up.
I do ride 2-handed all the way across, but I think I either A. hustle him and forget all else, or B. sit up and shape him for the turn. I don't know. What's frustrating is that I KNOW what to do, it's just doing it! But don't we all "know" what to do?? Haha! |

Totally throwing this out there, because you mention slip in the saddle. Do you ride with a back cinch snug?? Could be you're getting popped up when your horse rates. |

Location: Montana | Sound like me when we smoke our first barrel...actually, I could (don't want to, LOL) post a video of nearly falling off doing what you are describing. It is worse when we are indoors. But since we have only done about 14 competition runs total, I'm thinking with us our timing might still be a little out of wack yet. But I agree with whoever said don't focus on the barrel. That helps a lot! |

Yep, back cinch is always tight! It's so wierd... I've been running T-Bo over 4 years and it's still a learning process. We get one thing down, and something else pops up. I'm still working on getting a consistently good third barrel-that one's ALL about timing though. At least these day I actually check him lol. We're headed to another Josey clinic this Thanksgiving, I love going back to basics for a few days. There are always little things and drills I forget about over the years. |
