BS Hauler - 2014-11-02 12:00 PM  It looks like nobody wants to travel very far to go to it.

Entries were down this year, but there was still 860 in the open and 400+ senior entries.  The results posted above are the open short go finals from 7 days of qualifying rounds.   There were people from Canada to Texas and Mexico, Oklahoma.  It's still a heck of a show.

The last NBHA Texas State Finals I attended there was about 1200 entries. Now I think they have under 300. NBHA is all but dead in the State of Texas. I do remember when it was one of THE races of the years. Now it's a race that nickel and dimes you to death. I remember when it was first started how their big drawing card was you would never have to pay an entry fee for the finals if you qualified and you would run for a ridicuous amount of money. That didn't last very long..LOL

I miss Jimmy being here to update and keep up with draw #'s.  Miss it so much.
Used to be a long, long thread about it every year.
I do know they say the ground was really bad during the senior short go.  Don't know why, but it's
been said by a few seniors themselves.
And, yes, numbers are down.  Been going down every year since they made the move to Perry.
It's expensive to go to and this is just my opinion;  the talent at the World show is no way indicative
to the talent of folks running barrels.

Itsme - 2014-11-02 1:07 PM Instead of complaining about it start a thread...

I have no access to BHW or FB during my work hours.

SG understood - this was more a comment on the change in posts and pst  contents now compared to what it used to be.  Way back when there would have been a post, or posts, started when peeps were rolling out to the big shows, and then constant updates for the duration of the show(s).  This is a site about barrel racing, and we kept each other informed and entertained with talking about barrel racing.  I know where to find the results -- but HOW WAS THE GROUND??  How were the vendors??  Who picked up a really nice tack set?  Who's horse improved through the week?  Who's horse was feeling down, or even sick, and suggestions for improvements?  That sort of stuff.  I miss that.

The ground was great during the gos, not sure about the finals cause I wasn't there unfortunately :(

Vendors were good, but didn't seem like quite as many. Cruel Girl jeans for $20 & a rack of 50% of shirts at one vendor, buy a breast collar, get a headstall free at another. There was a really nice variety in the vendors, supplements vendors, furniture, tack, western clothes, saddles, trailers, bling, everyday clothes.

The first go round, Max Chouest REALLY out ran everyone, with a great run & a lot of luck on a second that really thought about going down, but sat back up around the time he turned the 3rd.
My horse didn't really fire, maybe an age thing.

And trick or trot was awesome as usual. If you have facebook, check out Cookie Monster & Big Bird, Frozen, Cat in the Hat, Bees, Batman, Frozen, and the Pinata - those were some of my favorites.
There were also a lot of Craigslist horses - sign with mispelled words saying kids horse, and the rider with an arm in a sling, tooth missing, limping . . .

heres my 2 cents..... used to jimmy and the video person at the finals would update a leader board here at bhw and the members who were watching would keep it bumped up and updated also.
jimmys not here.... rodeovideo is not here and either the webcast was not watched by regular daytime or nighttime users or those who watched did so purley for their own enjoyment.
nbha director would also chime in but jeff has since resigned and is no longer working the world shows.
I think we lost our main in's to life events.

also i think NBHA has after all these years made it a priority to update the results in a timely fashion instead of a week later and chose the fb forum to do that on.  cudos to them for finally stepping up.  (i dont believe they did they even did that for the youth show this summer

I think our state show for NBHA had less this year than last year... IBRA state finals had more entered than NBHA in Indiana.

Personally I know a lot of people who have cut back hauling this year....so perhaps that is why we see less posting about it?

To the folks talking about the Doom and Gloom posts, and how there should be more good stuff:

I think it's pretty tough to share the good things on here when one imagines the eye rolling and tough comments people sometimes make after a success or good experience or triumph. No lie, there's some pretty tough customers on this forum!

The things that really tear us up are the things we need to talk about the most (well, some of us). They get shared here to take comfort amongst those that we've been interacting with for years, but don't necessarily know in real life. It's hard not to use that support network!

As far as big races taking place an no one commenting, I agree that different media is being used. Make sure to start the thread the night before, and keep bumping up whenever you can. There's usually someone that will play and find out all the fun details!

We all dislike change, but it has happened and time marches on, and in my case right over my face. LOL Please note that there are plenty of update on races here on BT, they just seem to like the straight races now(not D races), more exciting to see 200 runners who could all win the race verses 800 runners who only 100 that have the times we love to witness. If this offends some, that wasn't my intent, just been in this industry long enough to watch the change coming back around.

AND WHY does my font change????? Thats the real question!  lol

Well I just got back from worlds yesterday, so I'll give my opinion.

The good:
1- PHOTOGRAPHER.... This was my biggest excitement of the whole week. We got a new photographer, and an awesome one at that. No more only one picture per run, only able to look at it through a tiny scratched magnifying glass and overpaying for a crappy quality pic. Rodeobum is awesome, 5 pics per run, view them as much as you want on a 37 inch HD TV, order a CD of all your pics no matter how many runs/horses for only $100 and get free portraits. Super Super excited!!!
2- Results were posted in a much more timely manner this year, no more waiting for hours after conclusion to see the results.
3- Practice pens were drug and cared for, not ignored like in previous years
4- Ran 3 tractors again, unlike last year when it was just 2
5- The ground was amazing this year. I could not have asked for better.

The Bad:
1- Didn't run on time. Best we could figure this was coming from the big drags. NBHA has always ran very close to 50 horses per hour. This year they ended up off by 2 hours at the end of some days.
2- No dogs in the vendors... I know this is because of awful people who let their dogs pee and crap on things, but it's a bummer for those of us with well behaved dogs who like to spend time with them. So no dogs in the arena, no dogs in the vendors... my dog had to spend most of the day in the trailer.
3- Too many people in the holding pens. I thought there was supposed to be a rule about how many people could accompany you in the holding pen. Well I shared a drag with someone who shall remain nameless (lets just say the first name is only 3 letters and ran a really fast time). And between their trainer, 4 grooms, family, and friends there were over 10 people in the holding pen with this person. I have a horse who needs to walk (which he does so quietly), and I couldn't hardly move. I was peeved, I don't care who your trainer is, or how much money you have. You aren't entitled to the whole holding pen.
4- Vendors were down. Vendors were WAY down. I got some good deals, but I did miss a lot of my usual people that I buy from.
5- Needs to be a curfew. The same people who hog the holding pen also like to scream and holler while playing basket ball until 2am. Not cool when other people camped by you have to run the next morning. Had another friend have some people next to her from south Alabama up screaming and partying until 4am. Just plain RUDE!

Overall we had a great week. I was very proud of my horse. At 22 years old he actually ran a 3D time (tipped the dang barrel though). We qualified back for finals, and had a great run, but ended up just out of the money. I couldn't have asked for better from him! Had great people stalled around me, as always great facilities, and a wonderful time all week. Can't wait until next year to do it all again!
