My heels are hurting again, now that I'm trying to ride and run. I suspect my steel toe work shoes are aggravating the situation, since I practically live at work. I'm finally back on track with my riding daily and running every other day and DO NOT want to stop doing either.

My old running shoes are the most comfy for barn work, but my feet get wet in the morning dew and they just aren't practical for cleaning stalls, etc. Any ideas???

No or low heels. For riding, get boots with a steel shank. I also have bunions so heels create other soreness issues.

A good portion of my foot issues, including Plantar fasciitis, are from lack of stability in my ankle/foot. I get work boots that lace up a little ways and use two shoe laces, 1 at the top 2-4 laces and another for below that. The 2 laces allow me to tighten the whole boot without being too tight in some areas and too loose in others. This stabilizes my foot/ankle and has helped a bunch.

I use Dr. Scholl's inserts.  I went to a foot doctor and he told me that if I didn't wear shoes with an arch, that I would have problems as I got older (that was 20 years ago).  If I don't put my inserts in my shoes, in a week or so I can't walk.  I bought the inserts and Walmart sells that has the display where you stand in front of it bare foot and the machine tells you which inserts should work best for you.
