| Proverbs 18:1-12 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment. A fool has no delight to understanding but in expressing his own heart. When the wicked comes contempt comes also and with dishonor comes reproach. The words of a mans' mouth are deep waters; The well spring of wisdom is a flowing brook. It is not good to show partiality to the wicked or to the overthrow the righteous in judgment. A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. The word of a talebearer are like tasty trifles and they go down into the inmost body. He who is slothful in his work Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer. The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his own esteem. Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility
Perhaps nothing is more lethal to the human heart than pride. Think about it: Pride banished Lucifer from heaven. Pride was the stumbling block to Adam and Eve in the garden. When King Uzziah, who was a believer, walked in humility before the Lord, God prospered him. However, 2 Chronicles 26 tells how Uzziah became proud toward the end of his life. Instead of respecting the office of the priests and allowing them to burn incense on the altar. Uzziah took matters into his own hands. The Bible describes the foolishness of his pride this way; " But when he was a strong heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the Lord his God by entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar" 2 Chornicles 26:16
Pride causes us to fall headfirst down the slippery slope of self reliance instead of trusting in God. Scripture is full of vivid examples of Gods total disdain for the wickedness of pride. Jesus taught humility; Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted Luke 18:14 Paul described the lowly incarnation of Jesus this way: He made Himself n reputation, taking the form of a bondservant.......He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of deal Phil 2:6-8 John Stott said pride is your greatest enemy, but humility is your greatest friend. Take time to clothe yourself in true humility today.
I caught myself being prideful during my chemo dealing with breast cancer. I felt I needed to be in control all the time. In my daily journey with Jesus, I learned that I didn't. I was able to let others in asking for help, my Mom did my laundry, took me back and forth to radiation, my husband took me to chemo, they help me in so many ways, and in return I let go of my pride of control . By letting go and asking for help, not only blessed me but blessed them by letting them do what they could to help me. Don't let pride get in your way. We need to step back, ask for help, and let other people take their turns in our life process. It doesn't mean you are failing , your are being successful in the eyes of God, by allowing other people to love you and you love them in return.
For it is WITH God ALL things are possible
HAVE A VERY BLESSED, LET GO OF PRIDE DAY AMEN
