| Proverbs 17: 17- A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. A man devoid of understanding shakes hands in a pledge, and becomes surety for his friend. He who loves transgression loves strife; and he who exalts his gates seeks destruction. HE who has a deceitful heart finds no good and he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil He who begets a scoffer does so to his sorrow, and the father of a fool has no joy. A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. Wisdom is in the sight of him who has understanding. but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth. 27 H who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is a calm spirit. even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
When you hear the word "friend", what immediately comes to mind? Unfortunately, due to the fast paced times in which we live, many of our relationships never get beyond the surface. The demand at work is high, the number of projects and tasks is great, and many of the meaningful friendships God desires for us are put on hold. Yet Proverbs 17: 17 says : A FRIEND LOVES AT ALL TIMES, AND A BROTHER IS BORN FOR ADVERSITY."
Are you familiar with the story of David and Jonathan? If ever there was a friendship defined by consistent love, selflessness, and support during times of crisis , it was the bond between David and Jonathan. Jonathan's father, Saul, became envious of David's achievements. His jealousy led to a morbid obsession with trying to kill David. But time and time again, God used Jonathan to bring encouragement and hope to David's heart when David needed it most!
Who are your best friends? The ones who inspire your walk with God, will always love you, and stay committed when times are tough!
