What saddle would fit more variety of horses? What do you like about each?  What gullet in martin do you find fit  a greater variety of horses?

There's no comparison in the way the Pozzi and the Martin will ride. I'd definitely buy the Pozzi. I have riden both.

I have a Martin Crown C 9" gullet that I ride my older (15 year old) rodeo horse in and am going to buy a 10" gullet for my younger mares. Love how they ride, wouldn't go back to anything else now.

I've never had a Pozzi, but I like my Martin Crown C quite a lot. It fit my hard to fit gelding well.
I have an 8.5" gullet. Mine is wide in the back and narrow in the shoulder, so I can shim a little tiny bit and it works great.

I wondered about the quality of the leather on a Double J- I have heard it is not as nice as a martin but have never seen one in person.

If you are considering a Martin, they have a FREE demo program. I used it and was able to make sure the saddle fit my horse before buying one. Double J also has a demo program, but I believe it was 150 bucks if you did not order a saddle from them after sending the demo back. There are no Double J dealers close to me either, so I was not able to try one. I tried the Martin and loved it.

I have a Crown C, 8" gullet.  I love the adjustable riggin, and I love the saddle.  No experience with a Pozzi, except I did see one at a show and the price made me gulp.

Definitely the pozzi. My horse never grew into the Martin and it threw my forward really bad. Now I can ride two handed

Pozzi I hate the where the Martin places you and where they want the saddle to sit on the horses back..

I love my Crown Cs! I feel so balanced and secure.  Sat in a Pozzi and that was nice too, really cups your butt;  would love to be able to ride in one. If I ever sell my Crowns I think the Pozzi would be an awesome one to try.

I have a regular martin. It fits my horse great but I personally don't love the way it fits myself or how I ride in it. My feet always get behind me but I also hate forward hung stirrups! My favorite saddle ever was a CJ record breaker.Just didn't fit my longbacked, broad shoulder horse. Wish I can find one that fit like me like a CJ but fits horse like a Martin lol Anyway, I was also wondering how do the pozzis ride and fit compared to the regular martin too?

I have not ridden a pozzi but have the new Martin FX3 and am in LOVE - I am from the old school an am older and wanted to sit deeper in my saddle, just not as athletic as I once was. I want the saddle to fit my horse first and foremost and have seen dramatic changes in our horses backs the last 4 years my daughter has been only ridding Martin saddles. I wanted to love the Martins but just did not feel right for my style and abilities and am too old to change. I want to sit deep on my pockets and feel secure and not have my feet behind me. After trying a Martin a year ago and wanting to love it for my horse I was just not comfortable. After several conversations they took my saddle back and reworked it to a FX3 and it feels like it was literally made for ME !! So now my horse and I both have the best of both worlds. By far this has been the best experience , caring attitude and willing to listen to my needs that a saddle maker has ever shown me in 57 years. I am a Martin fan now and forever !!

This is why I don't like the Martins.  They throw you forward and make it difficult to keep your feet from getting behind you.  Of all the brands of saddles I've riden, this is the only brand that I have that issue in (and I rode several different Martin models.).  I don't like the saddle placement of the Martins either....or the gigantic gullets.

The Pozzi's make is so easy to stay centered.  Your feet aren't in front of you, they're just right in line with your hip.   If you go to a lot of bigger barrel races Double J has a trailer there  with trees and will let you ride around in their saddles.

I think it's all about personal preference. I don't find my Crown C throws me forward at all, and I have no problem getting my feet behind me.

I have never ridden in a Pozzi so can't compare to that, but I do like my Martin better than the Ammerman and Coates I had. I did have a Cactus CJ I really liked as well.

Not to steal the thread but Since were talking Pozzis, how do they fit broad shoulderd, long backed med to high withered horses? I have a regular Martin and a Caldwell Rocket and have been interested in a Pozzi. Need something with shoulder flare and some rock and twist to tree, no straight bars. Thanks
