There really won't be any way to buy your product at all? Even if you don't advertise it as "curing ulcers" ???
Regardless of what the FDA thinks I KNOW what it did for my horse!
The FDA knows these other companies products work but they do not care. Its all about them making their moolah
If this was an unproven, no testing completed human drug would you be saying the same thing?
I'm sorry Doug, I hope you can find a way to sell it legally as I do love what ulcer cure OTC has done for my horses.
Thanks |

See every herbal or vitamin supplement on the market for humans right now.
They are not evaluated by the FDA but are "drugs" in a scientific sense- they certainly effect the way your mind and body work. They are allowed to be sold because they are "supplements" and usually all have the non-FDA approved disclaimer under every ad or on every label that it is "not designed to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition". |

I agree with this ^^^ The THE promotes it's ulcer healing properties in their product, so I don't know how the FDA can demand these companies to close down. Everyone buying these other products know they are not FDA approved, so they are taking there own chances with these products. There are tons of products on the market that make claims that they do things and they aren't proven by the FDA, but you can still buy them. |

Location: Idahome | Trust me, it is much easier to sell a product in the human world than it is in the animal world. The FDA is a royal pain in the ass and all companies making claims when they are not a drug will get a letter eventually. Support and maintain are bascially the only words they allow you to use when describing your product. Curing, healing, dissolving, etc. are all "illegal" words.
If you are still wanting to sell your product, try contacting the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) nasc.cc. They can help you get with the proper labeling and guidelines for any animal health product. |

So what's stopping you from creating a new 'Supplement' label and selling? 'Aids' in settling nervous stomach? |

Location: Willows, CA | The difference between human use supplements and animal use supplements all started with DSHEA. The "Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act". This states the human use supplements are foods and not drugs. The argument for this was that FDA approval cost so much that no supplement company would ever pay for the required testing. Natural supplements can't be patented, so there would be no protection during testing. The result would be that beneficial supplements would not be practical to make and sell, and the general public would loose out. This opened a door that many now think was not wise. FDA decided not to let the same thing happen to the animal market, so any claim of cure or effect is considered a drug claim and the product is then classified a drug, not a food as it would be if marketed for human use.

Actually I believe several of the "oil" companies have been given letters about how products are promoted as well.
