Location: Montana | Mostly, what is the difference between an all around saddle and a regular barrel saddle? I don't rope, but sometimes in my area all around saddles can be easier to come by. Thanks!

Location: Back in MT BABY!!! | In my experience barrels saddles tend to be lighter and narrower in the seat area...which makes it easier sit through a turn. |

Location: Somewhere around here | I had an all around "barrel" saddle a few years ago. Let's just say having rawhide on the horn does not make it anything close to a barrel saddle. Low cantle+ small and short horn, not too heavy though, but it was pretty good for breaking colts in. |

Lucky you in that all around saddles are easier to come by, I think I want an all around saddle, but around here
they are hard to find & expensive!!!!
I think I want a Sharon Camarillo Courts All around, them "look" like they have the deepest seat! |

I know where one is for sale! That is why I ask the question because I ride in a Courts barrel saddle and wondered if a Courts all around would do me justice! Not too much money either. |

Location: Illinois | I went from a barrel saddle to an all around and now I am back to a barrel saddle again. I liked the all around, it was comfortable and rode nice but it was heavy and it didn't fit my horse. It also had a low cantle and I like a higher one. If I had to chose between the two I would go with a barrel saddle for sure. |

Location: North Dakota | *Personally* I wouldn't get an all around saddle simply because I don't want the added weight. Of course I don't rope either.. |
