| I've been a bit bummed for this pair. Does anyone know if something is going on with Stingray or if it's just an unfortunate time to not be clocking well? NO judgement here-just curious. They are at the Nfr after all, and I'm at home on my couch! |

Location: Willows, CA | I had breakfast with Sherry on the first morning and asked how Stingray was doing. She said she was fit, rested and ready to go. I think there is little for that mare to prove on bad ground. The one night she ran on better ground she was first out. That night she felt her way to a 13.91 which was the fastest time run so far. That built both pressure and confidence for everyone else and their times showed it. At this point I think everyone is just trying to get through and keep their horses safe. One thing I do know very well about Sherry, she runs to the level that she needs to and always cares more about that mare than the clock.

| I agree with above. Sherry is by far my idol not to mention that amazing little mare. I was/am a little shocked and worried about the pair this year. I do agree though that with Stingray's running style and build, bad ground is harder on her than some of the others. I did see a change in Sherry's riding style in round 7 too. I love the pair and this NFR will not change that :) |

I think Mary is pretty much in the same situation. Once you have two barrels down, what are you going to gain by pushing a horse that is so explosive out of the turn on that kind of ground. Sherry took a very bad fall there two years ago on the second barrel, with Stingray hitting her head on the barrel when she slipped and fell. There were a lot of barrels down that year also. Last year the ground was good enough for an arena record to be set, and Sherry just ground them all down while winning a check every night. That was clearly not in the cards this year, and like I said, that mare has nothing to prove. I got a text from Sherry yesterday and she was in very good spirits. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Sherry is a class act and I'm thrilled she has remarried. There is a lot more to life then winning a barrel race. Michelle Mcleod has run the fastest time so far this year with a 13.66 and there have been quite a few sub 13's which is pretty amazing the way the ground is this year. |

| My two cents on last night is that Stingray is one smart horse. She comes in ready to lay down a run each and every night and you can watch that horse "feel" the ground to see if it is going to hold her and if it won't, she doesn't fire like she can. Sherry is riding very smart too. Last night Latte looked ready to come in and smoke a run and by the time they reached the 3rd barrel it appeared Mary quit hustling him because she knew that ground was not going to hold her horse. Makes me sad for all the ladies that worked so hard to get there. On a lighter note, I am riding each and every horse from my chair every night, after 15 runs each night for seven rounds I am getting a bit tired. |

| God help me if this is out of place or inappropriate because I have the upmost respect for this woman and her horse.
A few years ago when Dakota was an infant I was standing along the fencing watching a Cobra race. Sherri was there and she rested her horse behin me. She seemed to be really smitten with Dakota but never said a word to me. At this poing her life she has far passed proven herself and there's a part of me, maybe the mommy part, IDK, but if news broke that she decided to hang up the spurs for diapers and PTA I think I'd bawl like a baby. She's a hell of a woman and cowgirl and nobody deserves a full well rounded life like her. But then again, I don't know what I read into her that night, only that I agree with whomever just said, there's a hell of a lot more to life than running barrels. |

Location: Crowder, OK | Aged rodeo horses are smart!!!!!!!!!!! there are sev ole pros in vegas that are very much taking care of themselves and thier riders.......those horses have learned over the years to run on crap, stand up, still maybe place and not hurt themselves....the true war horses of rodeo IMO....there are those that still shine, hence Louie, but he was pretty safe the first go, it is def an advantage to be ontop of the ground at the nfr this year. Horses that run in there and are not smart, usually wont last very long on the rodeo trail. this is JMO....I am not a rodeo veteran, but i would bet thats the reason alot those horses are not clocking. |

I agree with this and have said it before. Stingray is smart and knows the ground is bad and she is taking care of herself and Sherry. I feel so sorry for these girls and their horses. As I have said earlier I am not watching the NFR anymore so I am headed to bed. Prayers for these ladies and horses. |

Location: Peach State | Don't forget Stingray took a pretty bad fall a few years ago when the ground wasn't as bad. She lucked out without any injuries and I'm sure that plays a big part in sherry's saftey mentality.
They are just so awesome and such a wonderful example true "horsewomanship" |
