My personal favorite is the $50,000 horse with no video, no height, the picture looks like their 3 year old took it, maybe 20 word description and then " no tire kickers!"

As a seller I would ask for a deposit say the cost of your fuel to weed out the pony riders and tire kickers if the buyer wants to haul the horse away fron the farm to try. As a buyer I am first going to the horses home to determine if the horse fits me. If the horse is expensive and I want more time then I wouldn't be offended by having to place a fuel deposit in order for the seller to haul to arena for me to try. Its simply good business. If pony riders get mad who cares they didn't intend to buy anyway.

I can't stand the one's with no "price"! I just pass them up and go to the next one. If they really wanted to sell the horse they should put the price.

tracies - 2014-12-30 1:04 AM As a buyer I really dislike the phrase "no tire kickers" because, frankly, I need to see and ride your horse and probably a few others before I make a decision. That's called SHOPPING!

As a seller, I REALLY dislike potential buyers that make me a lower offer before they have even seen/ridden the horse. I am always open to hear your offer (after you have ridden the horse), but you better be able to explain why you think my horse is worth less than my asking price ( which I put a lot of thought into & believe it is a fair price)

I usually don't like to comment on these threads but I agree with this. and if I tire kick, what are you gonna do?

And no I'm not a tire kicker, I don't comment unless I've got cash to burn and I see a horse I want.

That is something that always use to really bother  me   for someone   to call and ask what my bottom dollar was, when they haven't even seen the horse yet.  Sometimes I just wanted to say "well for you the price is double"  because they asked a dunb question

But on the flip side, before I drive 4 hrs and take a whole day to see a horse, its nice to know if they are willing to negotiate or not. Sometimes the horse may be a little out of my price range, but if the seller is willing to negotiate, then I may likely go try the horse, but if they won't, then I wont waste anyone's time seeing the horse. Now if its only an hour away, then I would just go see the animal and then make up my mind...

I don't get it when people are just plane rude??? I saw a half brother to my old horse a few years ago for sale on here, he was jet black, handsome, and coming along nicely. I emailed the seller and simply complimented them on their horse, told them I had the horse's half brother (who had a very nice list of credentials by the way, my horse was several years older than theirs) and wished them luck, if I had the money I'd buy him, someone is getting a super nice horse, good luck selling him, you get the idea....the response I got was, if you aren't interested, don't waste my time......seriously? I was just trying to be nice, heck they couldn't wrote down my horse's credentials if they wanted to.....smh...it wasn't like I asked 50 questions, rode him, and decided I didn't want him.

As someone that has been horse shopping HARD for the past three weeks I can so relate to so much of this..
1.If you don't put a price I'm probably not going to contact you. Price helps me decide on a horse im either interested in or ruling out, if I have to message every other add I see it gets time consuming just to find out I can't afford the horse or 3 days later when the person answers can't recall which horse it was..
2. Don't stand on your horse.. I don't stand on mine, it proves NOTHING to me. I have been seeing so many of these pics in adds latley I was begining to wonder if anyone in TX actually sits on their horse.  How about some good conformation shots instead?
3. If your horse is unsound, please say so before I drive 3 hours, if you have to ace it to get it in the arena, how about we discuss this when your asking my riding skills before you will let me come see said horse..If its club footed, yes again let me know, I really HATE having to point this out to owners and thanking them for there time as I sware under my breath on my way back to the car for another wasted day.
4. IF I'm coming to look at a barrel horse, I kinda need somewhere to at least walk, trot, lope the pattern, nothing fancy is necessary and even bad ground I can see if a horse has potential or not, without risking injury.. (inquired about a "finished" barrel mare, when asked if there was a place to try her, I was told riding her was not permitted) You can't make this stuff up folks!
If I'm coming to look at a horse that is advertised as a cutting/sorting horse.. This will involve cattle if the horse has no earnings.. I'm not taking anyones word that a horse is "super cowy" because that can mean so many things..
5. And last but not least.. Why oh why do you answer all of my questions EXCEPT when is a good time to come see him/her? Yep several occasions find something I'm interested in, ask a few pertinent questions and then ask for a time to come try the horse and NEVER hear from the owner again (and this is all within the same conversation, minuets apart, not days) or the I'll call you tonight, tomorrow, in the morning to set something up and then they never bother.. I just don't understand this at all..

My favorite EVER!!! There was a horse advertised here about 6 to 8 months ago that wasn't too far from where we live. Video looked like the horse had never seen barrels before.
The ad read 1D horse. Only selling because I don't want to go that fast anymore! Willing to trade for something ready to haul.

My husband and I have made it a little inside joke that "I don't want to go that fast".
