Location: Texas | Teskey's in Weatherford for shopping! Blue goose and torchy's for mexican food. Coopers for BBQ, Joes pasta and pizz if you go to Weatherford is good italian food. Sundance Square is fun to walk around and has some cool bars. The Stockyards of course.. If you like the city I really do like Dallas.. Reunion tower is cool and has a fancy restaurant up top. If you don't have whataburger around you that's a must have.. It's just fast food, but apparently you miss it really bad when you leave Tx. |

Location: TX | Teskey's in Weatherford is a must see! Lots of good shopping. It's fun to walk around in the Stockyards in Ft. Worth and there are PLENTY of good places to eat. Justin Boot outlet in Ft. Worth. I recommend eating at Pappasito's Cantina - SOOO GOOD! Pappadeaux is good too... |

Joe T Garcias has the best margaritas!
Second Joe T's in Fort Worth - not far from stock yards. If the weather is nice you will want to sit out on their patio - it's huge and has tropical plants everywhere. Even when it's cold they have heaters out - but it would have to be super nice to sit out there in Feb. Otherwise, the inside is OK - kind of small but worth the visit for the beef fajitas and margaritas.

I've seen a few comments about Weatherford - that's a bit of a drive, but I can't speak to it as I haven't been to Weatherford in humpteen million years. I work in Dallas - nothing special - Fort Worth is much cleaner and "nicer", imo. :)
Safe Travels!
I plan on going to watch the American - wave hi if you see me! :)

| If you like western artwork go to the Amon Carter Museum just across the street from Will Rogers' Coliseum-where they hold the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Paintings and sculptures you've heard about or seen in art books all your life are in the museum. The Cowgirl Hall of Fame is within walking distance from the museum as well, but I haven't been in it. I like El Mercado Juarez restaurant just off I35W on Yucca Avenue. |

Location: The South | After the American last year we ate at a steak place close by called Trail Dust and it was amazing!! Not fancy by any means but the food was great. We both thought the steak was better than the two fancy places we tried in the stockyards. And I got to meet Charmayne in the restroom so that was awesome |

Location: Oklahoma | My favorite thing to eat in Texas is In N Out burger.... they're everywhere in Texas now and no where in Oklahoma! I'll be in Ft. Worth the next two weekends for the StockShow/Rodeo... probably just by myself, but I'll be trying some of these places out! |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Joe T's (Checkn/Beef Fajitas/ Nachos and Margaritas) Teskey's In Weatherford (Horse Mall of America.) Joe's Pasta and Pizza in Weatherford (Pizza by the Slice. Pasta To die For.) H3 Ranch or Cattleman's for a great steak (Great fish too at H3.) PRs or the Basement Bar (for a great night life bar) and don't forget Sundance Square, the Stockyards, and the Museums around town
ETA: If You tag Teskey's on Facebook they'll be more than happy to meet you at the door and give you the whole experience.(75,000 sq ft warehouse style shop) For Saddles ask for Casey Cooper and for Tack in general ask for Jeff Hartong. GREAT guys to deal with!! Jeff is really great with people and can tell you more great places to visit and eat at and Casey knows saddles like the back of his hand.I'm a Teskey's Groupie LOL

Location: Kentucky | H3 ranch in the stockyards is great for food and their barstools are saddles! You can walk around the stockyards and there are lots of bars and things to do.
You should check out what will be going on in John Justin Arena while you're here. They always seem to be having some sort of cutting or charity horse event that could be cool to check out. Also, the Cowgirl Hall of Fame is there and then right next to it is the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, which are beautiful year round.
If you're looking to see Ft. Worth and it's neighborhoods, West 7th is near John Justin and it has a lot of upscale shops mixed in with Texas style bars and restaurants. Magnolia Avenue is really cute with lots of locally sourced restaurants and craft beer places. If you want to do some exercising, the Trinity River Trails are a network of gorgeous trails all along the river that you can safely walk, run, or bike (there are a lot of bike rental places along it). When I lived in Fort Worth I loved running from around TCU, through the neighborhoods with mansions, past the Ft. Worth Zoo and then to the Botanical Garden. Its a really beautiful trek and there are some cool icehouses along the way you could pull off and enjoy a beverage.
Sundance Square is really fun too. I know you said you already got a hotel but you should check out my favorite place to stay in Ft. Worth, called "Etta's Place." It's a gorgeous old bed and breakfast named for and themed after Etta Place, the girlfriend of Butch Cassidy (and Ft. Worth madame). All of the rooms are themed after Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, and to top it all off, the innkeeper will cook you whatever you want for breakfast in the morning. If you're in Sundance square, you should also go to Reata Restaurant (right next to Etta's Place). It is pretty expensive but it is AMAZING.
Hope you have a great time!
