This is not due to financial issues...its a long story but the tough decision is..I have 2 barrel horses and I can only keep 1. Horse A i have learned a lot on and have owned for quite awhile. I feel like i have gotten him as far as i can take him and he will only ever be a 3d horse. I have sentimental value for him. Horse B i recently purchased before the **** hit the fan but she is a step up horse that i have been looking for to take me to the next level. I like riding her better and can learn more on her. So do i pick the horse I feel like "i owe it to" or the horse that can "take me further" ?????????

Wow that's tough! It all depends on what you really really want. Make a list of pros and cons and goals you have for the near future. Have you thought about leasing or selling to somone you know with the option I a buy back clause? I leased out my old gelding to a friend with a boarding stable as a lesson horse worked out well, I eventually got him back after a few years. It helped me out financially, and he was my first horse so he had sentimental value, but I wanted to barrel race and couldn't afford 3 horses ,and because our agreement was she paid for feed, feet, vet ect. And she kept all money made on him with lessons. Something to consider.

If you sell the one you have had for a while you can state to approved home only in your ad and can do a contract that you get first right of refussel if they decide to sell down the road.
