When did you see signs?what tipped you off there was a possible problem?
(Fluid on face of joint? Performance
)
How did your horse act in early onset?
Were you able to keep them comfortable?
did you have surgery to remove problems associated with OCD? What was the outcome?

No one with upper hock joint arthritis! ?!?! The only reason I'm asking is because my new horse has bog spavins on both front of the hock and she is getting radio graphed this coming week. Vet says bog spavins in the front of the hock with absence on the side is a sign of high motion joint.trying not to freak out. Horse had a pre purchase exam with a different but we'll known performance vet. Nothing ever came up hock but with a small amount of fluid on stifle that is now gone. Radio graph of stifle was clean to the eye. Flexed 0/5 on 3 legs back right flexed 2/5. Fluid on both hocks though as of 4 days ago pre purchase was 1 week ago

I have never had hock motion hock problems, and when I asked my vet, the prognosis and career expectancy is short.

Exact reason I'm freaking out. From what I gather from reading is high motion hock problems
(upper joint
) is relatively uncommon but when it's there is an end game type of thing

I've had one with OCD lesions and one with moderate arthritis in the high motion joint of the hock. Both horses showed different signs and reacted differently to the pain. My filly was 5 and she would want to buck with me and I couldn't get her to back up very well and this is a horse who backed like a reiner previously. She had OCD lesions in both hocks. She didn't show stiffness and would pass a lameness exam. I only noticed it by her change in behaviour and x-rays confirmed it. My mare with arthritis never bucked, but she showed stiffness in that hock and would not turn, would blow out the backside of the barrel. Neither horse had fluid that I could feel on the face of the joint. I don't know why my filly was fine during training but once I started running her hard is when her symptoms showed up. I basically retired my mare with moderate arthritis in her hocks as I did everything I could to keep her sound and she was still uncomfortable when I ran her.
Edited to say my mare did have high motion joint arthritis which is uncommon and her hocks haven't completely fused either.
