Location: Tennessee | I'm going to start running barrels soon on my new mare & I want to know which association is better. I haven't actually barrel raced in shows but me & my mare have plenty of experience at home & trailering to a friends arena. So I basically want to know things like which one has better payouts, races etc. & the more professional group of people, I want good competition & to be able to advance my barrel career to a professional level (not just a race once a month lol) I've already looked them both up & they both have a good number of races here in Tennessee so its hard to decide which one to go with. Thank you all ahead of time for your help :) |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Get ready for the drama. I run NBHA mainly because the races are closer and the pens are bigger, and for our area the NBHA competition is tougher. We have some of the toughest riders in the industry here that primarily run NBHA instead of IBRA. But it is different in different parts of TN. |

| Join both so you don't have to pay the non-member fee at shows. If you only join one then you'll only be going to one a month probably unless you want to pay the non member fee every time. |

Location: East Tennessee | I run both. I am also a director for district TN06. Even tho I am a director I will continue to run both as long as my schedule allows it. Here in 06 there is barely 1 weekend that there is not a show. |

I don't think IBRA has non member fees. |

They don't have them.
Only NBHA has nonmember fees, which are usually 10$ in my area. |

Sorry should have been more clear in my post I was referring to NBHA with the fee. You will probably have two district shows within driving distance of you and it will be a lil cheaper to join NBHA. I would join both because you'll probably be hitting up IBRA shows as well unless you wanna sit at home most weekends, and no there is not a non-member fee. |

| Really depends on the district you're in. The TN IBRAs are a long haul for me, so I go to MS IBRAs. I like both TN and MS IBRAs; I think they are well run, but the MS is pretty small crowd. NBHA in my area usually has a good turn out with added money and year end awards, but the fees have gone up and its a long show. Honestly there is good competition at both. Other than saddle clubs, I can't think of a barrel race that is easy around here! Hope that helps! |

| If you are closer to the Memphis part of TN NBHA Tn-05 is awesome I run a lot of those shows. Most of the IBRA's are a little further towards Middle and East TN I believe. Blue Creek Arena in McEwen (I think?) also puts on a lot of shows. Where do you live and how far are youw anting to haul |
