What can you guys tell me about these bloodlines as barrel horses? I'm looking at a horse with MJP on top and TTD on the bottom. Just looking for some info. I've never been around either bloodline.

I just got a son of Fly Jess Fly, so a Gson of MJP and so far I LOVE him. Very smart, attentive, has go but also has whoa, light in the face despite 13 outs on the track. He is a Gson of Corona Cartel on bottom.

I have a daughter of Toast To Dash AA on track with 15 or so outs. Sound and as good minded as they come. Gorgeous conformation and is just pleasant to be around and ride. I would take another ! My trainer said he has rode several and really liked them on barrels. They can RUN !

I've got a son of Toast to Dash. I frickin' love that boy! He's kind, loving, gentle and so very smart. Plus he looks classy as all get out. He's also the most athletic thing I've ever seen, with some of the smoothest gaits I've ever felt. He's four this year, I'm holding him to futurity as a five year old. Super, super quality.

I have a daughter of Feature Mr Jess. She is very smart, willing and talented. She was easy to train, had no buck, etc. But she can be quirky and very pushy on the ground. She can also get a little heavy when she runs (slow work she is super light). She can be a bit spooky to ride, and a little bit hot. She doesn't like other horses in her "bubble", lol. She is a big girl (16+ hands). She is VERY marey. So much so than any other mare I've ever had! She will kick in her stall, kick in the trailer, etc. It drives me crazy. I don't know if it is her top or her bottom side because I've had a few mares from her breeder that are all that way.

I have a few friends who have Jesse James Jr horses that are futurity horses this year and they really LOVE them. One is a bit on the hotter side, and the other is dead quiet and he is bred to be hot. Because of this and the fact that my Judge Cash mare crossed nice on JJJ, I will be breeding her to a son of Jesse James Jr who is out of a Dash Ta Fame daughter. Pretty excited about the cross actually.

I wouldn't say that she is a "pill", lol... just different. She was an orphan and I think that could be some of her ground manners. She is a blast to ride, super willing smooth and fun. She was so easy to train it hurt. I had to back off her several times because she was coming along too fast. She has her quirks, but what horse doesn't. She fell and got hurt as a 3 year old, and I think that some of the issues I've had with her were from the injury going undiagnosed (not for lack of trying to find it!) for awhile. Honestly she isn't bad, but I don't think they would be for everyone either. I had a Streakin La Jolla mare to and she was fun, broke, willing. Was AAA on the track and came back as a nice barrel horse till an injury ended that and then my little boy would ride her. She was also very marey, and had hard cycles. She was one of my very favorite horses, just fun to be around.

I don't like Mr Jess Perrys at all. None are winning in the barrel pen. Many other lines that are tried and true stick with them.

I have a grandson of MJP and I absolutely love him. He is great to be around and is very personable and is super fun to ride. He never has had any buck or funny business he isn't snorty or anything. I would have 10 more like him if I could he is super smart and loves to work. He isn't hot by any means but he will work himself into the ground for you.

I don't know of many sons or daughters actually running in the barrel pen? I do know there are some nice grand-get that are  doing well.
Here's a link with excellent info about MJP:

Fast horses with great minds. I don't know how you could go wrong.

I have two MJP granddaughters. Love them. They are cowbred on bottom. They are laid back and so smart. They pick up everything first time. Only problem I have I'm sorry and they are big girls. Already hand taller than their momma and growing.

I have a Toast yearling. He is an "in your back pocket" kind of guy. Can be hard headed about things but once he learns them he's got it! I like him so much I'm breeding his Grand-dam by Smoke N Sparks to Toast this year.
