Anyone had any experience with training/riding own daughters or sons of Corona Caliente?

Tell me the good and bad please.

Victory Dash and Liberty Jet Line barely on papers on mares side.

Thanks.

We have had two and both super smart! One we sold and he was a nice stakes horse on the track. The other one is a two year old and is going to the track. He is catty, smart, and very eager to please. We are breeding back to Coronal Caliente again. I cant say enough good things about the ones we have had!

I should add that the one was out of a Royal Quick Dash Zevi mare and the other one is out of a Dooley Authorized x Zevi mare. The Dooley Authorized mare is very hot and temperamental and the 2 year old out of her by Corona Caliente is laid back and easy going. We are breeding her back to him because the cross seems to put some quiet in her foals!

How big do they typically get. I am thinking the one I looked at will definitely not stay at 14.3 hands. (really wish she would for my short legs)

She will not be 3 till April and has been turned out for over a year after 2 months on track. She is a spitting image of her sire, color and markings. Very rough and hairy though and needs some TLC.

Thanks for all the replies.

Someone called me (out of the blue) to come see her. I was not looking. Now it has got me thinking as I only have one that is older and really broke.

He stood in NM for many years. He was about thirty minutes from me. I went to see him a couple of years ago. Really put together and balanced. He was really quiet when they pulled him out so we could look at him. They stood quite a few studs. I looked at all of them. I told the owner that my mare could be spooky and it was Corona Caliente he recommended. He almost looks black. Nice horse.

Oh I am definitely breeding a mare to him in 2016. Either Bunny or Lucy.. But it's happening. I love him, love his pedigree, love his full siblings...and half siblings..

First off, he's a first down dash, out of corona cartel's dam. So whether the alleged "no turn" comes from holland ease or corona chick is anyones guess.

Secondly, I don't buy it for a second. There's too many nice barrel horses who are corona cartel either on top or on the bottom.. Kendal Owen's NICE DTF is out of a corona cartel mare. Jackie Ganter's stellar horse Cartels Fame is a DTF out of a corona cartel..

I agree. I love every horse corona chick produced and she's my favourite broodmares. She may have just lost all time leading money earning broodmare (barely) but the mare that beat her out has had 10 more foals then her... He's on my short list for either next year or 2017. I want to breed my reckless dash mare to his half brother Captain Courage next spring and am continplatingf finding a mare for this guy too.

Great minds think alike lol. I have wanted to breed to him since his first year standing and I finally have the perfect mare for a track baby out of him.

I have a Corona Cartel G-son...He;s 15.2 ish 15.3. I still have no idea how he can wrap himself around a barrel. He is so tight, yet has never hit one. It's ridiculous.

I was going to go back tomorrow (Sat.) to look at her again. Snowing. Maybe this front will move east faster than expected. Will see. I guess there is always next weekend.
