| I did not get to watch it and was wondering what the Facebook talk was about these "cocktails" for horses, (assuming futurity horses ) and the discussion that went on about that during this webcast. Can anyone fill me in?? |

| Not that I have seen, someone said it was going to be aired on rfd-tv and someone responded that it would probably be edited before they did that. |

Location: Where I am happiest | You should go ask on the BRN4D discussion board as that is who put that clinic on and most there watched it. You dont have to sign up for the discussion board or creat an account. www.brn4d.ccom |

| I think they made a very good point in the webcast on using various calming agents. I believe it was Jolene that stated she will give a horse something to help their mind slow down and let them realize that they are ok. That's incredibly paraphrased, but that was my interpretation of what she said.
I think so many people are so quick to judge others about "drugging" their horse. I do believe that there are plenty of situations where it's not called for and unnecessary...HOWEVER, I feel there's definitely a time and a place for it. I brought my gelding back last summer after he had been completely blown up, due to an injury that took a long time to surface. For both his and my sanity and SAFETY, I ran him on guanabenz for the first few months. Slowing his mind down and taking that edge off allowed him to realize that going in the arena to run wasn't going to hurt any more, and keeping the edge off and keeping him from flipping out rebuilt my confidence and my trust in him as well. By fall, I was able to quit giving him the guanabenz and still warm up and get in the gate safely and without causing a scene. Flame away, but I truly do not believe I would have been able to rehab him without it. |

It was a really awesome webcast to watch! Lots of great insight on not only futurity horses, but older horses as well. |

No judging from me here- I agree- it is hard to get the panic off them about what happened before without some pharmaceutical assistance sometimes. Those people who tell you wet saddle blankets can cure everything have never experienced rehabbing a blown up, previously injured horse with a severe case of post traumatic stress syndrome- |
