Ok, probably a stuipd question but if you don't know, you don't know... Is it a "faux pas" to ask a stallion owner if you can stop by and see the stallion during breeding season?  My mare is booked to a stud out of state, and we're going to be in a town very near to the vet where he's standing next weekend and I'd love to be able to stop in and see him in person, but I don't want to be a pain in the @ss during an incredibly busy time either.  First time ever breeding so I don't know what iis the norm

Most stallion farms will welcome you with open arms and proudly show off their stallions. I'd call a day in advance just to let them know you are coming.

You should be able to as long as you call ahead first. Who wouldn't want to see their mare's baby daddy lol

heck no.  We would get people popping in all the time and we were thrilled to show him off.

We welcome people to come take a look!  As long as we have some notice, to make sure someone will be around, as we do have a busy schedule this time of year.  But are always glad to show them off.

Most ranches are used to people coming and going.  It is nice if people call in advance during breeding season  on collection days because those days are usually very busy. I always ask that people come by to see a stallion in person. Its always good to put  your eyes on the horse and get a chance to get a good look at foals by the stallion as well.

I loved when people coming to buy colts had time to check out the sire and dam. If you aren't proud of your stallion, he shouldn't be breeding. Ours was always in his pasture clothes, but he loved attention.

I love when people come by for the 'tour'.  Just need some warning so I can be home.

If they don't want you to see their stallion in person, I would be concerned that they're trying to hide something. A while back I contacted a stallion owner to inquire about a couple of foals she had for sale, and since she's not too far from where I live, she told me to stop by anytime to come see him. She loves showing him off.
