Veteran Posts: 287	What does everyone feel is the best supplement for focus on the market?? I am not needing something to calm him, he just needs help focusing. I have used the Performance Equine Focus in the past and really liked it, but wondering if there are others out there that are just as good or better? Thanks in advance!

Instead of using magnesium it uses tyrosine which affects the horses brain and helps them to focus and have a sense of well being. My horse still fires off my leg but I feel like the energy is better directed now instead of looking at things to spook. THE also has Smooth Focus. I haven't tried it this product but it is another option to look into.

He doesn't get "nervous" per se .. but I can feel his heart beating before I run … he seems like he's just interested in hurrying up and getting the run over with … is that nervous needing calm or lack of focus?

Neat Freak Posts: 11216 Location: Wonderful Wyoming	Have either of you recently treated for ulcers? My old guy would have some serious nerves going on and it was all ulcers. I was a kid and never heard of them so this poor fella ran like that for yrs. When I finally was educated enough to know and treated him, he was a totally different horse. (edited because I don't mean you don't know about ulcers lol, but I sure as heck didn't). The calming works really good on horses that get on the Muscle. Usually the ones that really want to work, not avoid the arena. Those ones it seems have some underlying issue going on. I used the focus blend because I was hauling a well fed 2yr old show horse and he would look for monsters hiding in the gargage cans and behind the bleachers. Extreme Veteran Posts: 589	I use THE Muscle Mass with Ulcer, Joint and Focus and I LOVE the results!!!! I used to get it with the Calming vs the Focus and I didn't care for it too much. Since I switched the Calming for the Focus, my guy has been really working his butt off!! It was like a "lightbulb" moment

He doesn't show any "outward" signs of ulcers and doesn't respond to the pressure points (I don't know how reliable that is though). His heart gets going before our run .. he's good through the first barrel and then it's like .. hurry up and get this over with … don't care if I run over anything or anyone. ETA: he goes in the arena just fine … sometimes you can feel his heart beating … but one week he's awesome and we clock and win money and the next week he's got the "just get this over with" attitude. I'm working on getting him to relax in his approach and turns .. hopefully this will carry over. But like I said .. is this anxiety causing him to lose focus or his losing focus which causes him anxiety? Edited by azsun 2015-02-16 5:33 PM
