Can anyone recommend an HONEST insurance company to insure a horse under for mortality, loss of use, major injury?

Also, what documentation will I need in which to get the animal insured beyond the initial monetary investment?

I use Markel and they've been easy to do business with. I only needed to give them information on mine and they did all the research. They will insure for purchase value plus any additional value if you have supporting info/docs such as training and earnings...

Thank you for the recommendation.

LCI is great. I've never had any issues with them and they insured my uninsurable horse.

Don't even mess with loss of use, it isn't worth it.

I agree with the other poster about the loss of use. I have used Wilkins Livestock Insurers for years and have never had a problem.

I recommend Wilkins also. I unfortunately lost a horse to lightning a few years ago that was insured through them. I got paid without too much of a headache. The only thing I recommend is having a bill of sale on a horse you buy that you are going to insure. Luckily, I had bought the horse from a friend so it was easy to obtain a bill of sale. I just figured the AQHA papers would be enough, but they wanted the bill of sale also.

Thank you.

Bill of sale is the only documentation that I know I would need. If I send her to training, will that add onto her value? Will I need to get receipts. What about winnings? Do you need anything from a veterinarian?
