So confused.... Why would they be gimpy after a reset? Was there an abscess? Did he trim too short?

I don't know. The last 2 resets he has been giving on both front. I had Him come back out to put pads on him because if you take too much sole off of home will get sore, so he was ****ed at me because he thought I should just let the horse suck it up and keep riding him, so when he was pulling the shoes off he realized he had quicked him with a nail, but he's still sore even pulling the nails and putting on pads , and no. I'm not going to use him anymore but didn't know if any other farriers think. The same way. I told him I don't ride my horses when they are gimpy. I hate arrogant farriers

Glad you said you were not going to use him anymore. That would be my first step. Hate farrier that carve out sole in the first place. I wouldn't ride him if he were gimpy. Let him rest, maybe some bute, sounds like he needs to grow some foot out first.

He's a TW.....This would concern me......I would not have had pads put on the horse if he had been quicked.....chance of infection!

I had him put pads on before he told me about the hit nail, or at least one foot already had a pad on

Definitely get a new farrier! I'd try some Bute and give him some time to grow out.

Even after a reset you have to re-shape the shoe... Sounds like the horse has been quicked. Just pulling the shoe off will bend it enough to need to be shaped again.
WTH is "tide"?

I would pack the sore feet with Epsom salt gel and wrap like it was an abscess and leave on for 24-48 hours. This will help draw out the soreness.

I have soaked them in Epsom salts but not sure how much it's helping with pads on

I had a farrier that made my horse sore every reset for quite a while, so I found another farrier too.
You might try painting Jim Ricken's Foot Formula on the soles. It helps to toughen the sole.
After changing farriers he didn't get better. I had X-rays done. Ended up putting 2 degree wedge shoes on & it helped a lot. I guess I am saying that there may be changes that can only be seen on radiographs, and the only way your farrier will REALLY know how to treat him is to get those X-rays.
