Location: Ky | Any news? Any horse separating himself from the pack? I was a big fan of CC last year early. Haven't paid much attention this year. Be here before we know it. |

Location: Montana | I looked a couple of weeks ago or so, and no horses really just stood out yet. I'll probably start paying more attention here soon. The Kentucky Derby is so hard to call because of the size of the field (20 horses) and because of their inexperience on 1 1/4 miles, so it is always exciting. However, because of my life schedule (not just work) I have yet to see a Kentucky Derby live on TV...always get to watch the replay. |

We get a couple of tables in the clubhouse at Ellis Park every year. We will again this year but we are flying blind this year. |

| Last year noted TB analyst Steve Haskins kept CC at the top of his Derby list. This year he's touting American Pharoah-last year's two year old Champion. Unfortunately AP hasn't run since October? so I don't know if he's on the right track this time. AP has a huge deficit to overcome. Personally, I like Dortmund.

Location: Montana | I was just looking and at this point in time I like Dortmund the best. He's got a good record, and whoever did this breeding I think must have studied line breeding heavily...he "should" be able to run and hold the distance. Hope to see him in maybe one more race before the Kentucky Derby. He's good at stalking the pace and he breaks good and clean and strong. If he makes it to the Derby, any post position less than 10 should suit him. If he gets a further out post position, not sure he can make it up.
Then Carpe Diem looks really good, too, in the Tampa Bay Derby. Hope to see him race again as well. He has the speed, and so far it looks like he has the stamina. If he makes it to the Derby and gets a post position between 4 and 10, he should be fine.
The way El Kabeir ran in his last race, I think 19 other horses will be too many for him to take with his running style. But if he stalks the pace, he doesn't have enough "oomph" I don't think to make it the 1 1/4 miles to win. If he makes it to the Derby, he needs to be careful about his post position. To far on the inside he's going to get blocked, too far on the outside and he won't handle the distance, and too much with the pace he won't make it either. Besides that, whenever I bet on a grey horse, he comes in last, LOL.
International Star, who is early up there too can make up the ground if he gets in a spot (such as along the rail) if he can handle the distance.
