Member Posts: 42	What is your thoughts on caslicks? Do you think it improves performance? What about horses bred with caslicks? Going about it when they are about to foal? Also after foaling get caslicked again?

Ms. Poutability Posts: 2362 Location: In my own world	I have 2 mares that are "tilted" forward so their poo runs down their back side. I have one mare we think may suck some air in her. So they all have caslicks. One has had a foal. My vet removes caslick for breeding. Puts it back once bred(AI) and then removes about a month before foaling. And it is put back in after foaling. I think it helps with their health not sure about their performance

Namesless in BHW Posts: 10368 Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs	If a mare is "sucking" air, they will get sore and performance will go out the window. All our running mares have caslicks done to prevent them from doing this.

Take a Picture Posts: 12838	Just had one opened today. Mare is due in 5 weeks. Sure cut down on bladder infections. My three year old is caslicked. She sounded like someone turning a water bottle up side down when she walked. We felt it was a necessity.
