Is there any kind of powder you can sprinkle in the shavings or something you can spray to control flies in stalls?

There aren't any fans or misters.  Stall get cleaned once daily.  Poop is held in a dumpster so everything stays pretty clean.

pine sol don't know why but it works. If it's getting bad I spray the stalls with cattle fly spray, It usually lasts quite awhile. I spray the bedding, walls and under the mats.

Were in Canada so I don't know if you can get it everywhere but KONK is the best, expensive but it actually KILLS the flies! we will spray the barn and animals down. We also bring these like bug bombs up from the states. We wait till mid day when the flies are the worst, leave stalls dirty, take all the animals out of the barn, close all doors and windows and let these bombs rip. They basically smoke the barn out and kill all the bugs stuck inside.

Also want to say, make sure manure pile is away from the barn/animals and that pens are picked regularly and fields are dragged regularly. The flies follow the poop!!!! We also have fans in each stall and they seem to help too. We also buy our the feed store of their fly tape stock and go crazy!

Diatomacious Earth keeps the flys out won't necessarily kill them unless they land on it and rub their belly. You have to sprinkle it daily. I just use a flour sifter so its not in clumps. I just read that WD 40 keeps flies off your horse. Could work in a stall too I suppose.

Someone in my barn used one of these a couple of years back.

I hang up those auto fly sprayers in each stall along with a box fan overhead. Works pretty well.
