does anyone have a shed row barn that they would like to share info on? I'm looking into either buying one (10K-ish) or buying a shed row and converting it myself with panels and such. I like the thought of the shed row barn because all you have to do is use it once its up but I like the thought of air flow (and cost) with converting a shed row using panels.

Can you guys please share experiences and $$ costs if you don't mind?

Thanks!

A shedrow to me is a building with only one slope to the roof with no peak.

My next barn will be two 30x60 ft shedrows commonly called equipment sheds butted up to each other face to face. Front height is 17 ft and rear wall is 11 ft. This will give you a 60x60 barn area with maximum or one support pole in the very center or none at all depending on how you join the two shedrows together as you form the peak. One of the major things is doing at least 10 ft walls due to summer heat cooking your horses if the walls are lower.

Due to my location it will be open to the south and east sides and metal walls on the west and north with rollup doors as needed on these two walls. Stalls and run out pens will be on east and south walls and will be doubled at 12x24 with swinging gate to make two 12x12 stalls when needed ... i.e. for instance along the 60 ft east wall I can get ten 12x12 stalls and only use 24 ft of the barn leaving an open area of 36 ft for hay, tackroom, pulling trailers in and out of and tractor storage etc etc ..

All gates and panels will be 12ft in order to get a bobcat in and out of the stalls to strip them down without using a wheelbarrow or dealing with the stupid 4 ft doors that are common in barns and all of the wasted space used up by a long alley way ... your alleyway is now 36 ft wide ... lol ..

Make sure you build a pad at least a foot high to prevent heavy rains from flooding your barn ... and then build your building ..

This equipment shed is similar to the one I will be using ... by butting two of them up face to face ..
The other pictures are so you can see the skeleton and that you can add a shed down the side to extend the barn in the future and move your panel stalls or have it as a run in shed for pasture horses etc etc ..

My other peeve is where people do not allow enough room to easily turn a large trailer around between barn and house or other obstacles ..

Cost on the two shells with north and west walls will be in the 10k range ... like the equipment shed in the picture ... you could join two of them together to make you an alleyway as a conventional barn has ... I want the wide open area .. also note the difference in how the rafters are in these sheds .. there are none .. so you have the head room to ride a horse around if you have 10-12 ft walls .. on my barn .. center line will be 17 ft tall .. 11 ft sidewalls ...
