The very word brings up images of people who don't support 'progress'. I support progress. I love technology! I'm so very happy that I'm not a member of one of those 'lost tribes' that still live in the dark ages!!! lol...
Yet...the 'progressives' have stolen that word like it belongs solely to them! Liberal...I'm quite liberal about a few issues. It's funny...when it comes to say, abortion...cons seem to think we should go back to pre-birth control & libs seem to think abortion can be used as a means of birth control...neither 'side' is 'right'. We must 'progress' beyond both methods of thinking. This is done from the heart...that's 'progress'.
Same sex marriage. The constitution gives the decision of marriage to the states. So...marriage was originally a religious thing, it's now a 'government' thing. The taxes, insurance, inheritance, social security...etc. There's not much left that insinuates religion. I support same sex marriage. Progress? Liberal? Or simply compassionate. I don't know or care...it's not my call. I support laws that not only 'allow' humans to have choices but demands it.
Figure it out. That's what we're here for.
Enjoy the ride...grow. Love.
Progress!!! It doesn't happen without growing pains.
I'm a Constitutionalist. A most brilliant document that protects our natural rights to defend ourselves & make our own way...as long as we're not trampling the rights of any other.
Perfect! Progressive!
Where does it do this?
Sorry...I'm multi tasking & really suck at it. The Bill of Rights, 9th & 10th Amendments, cover rights not expressively protected or enumerated. You're correct in correcting me! Marriage is not mentioned at all. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. |

This is the scariest thing I have ever read & I'm shaken to my core. I'm posting it here because it has everything to do with what we face as a nation & a world. I've long denied a 'conspiracy', I can no longer be ignorant and blind just because it's comfortable. I first became open to the possibilities when I read the 'Creature From Jekyll Island'...this is beyond even that...the Fianl Curtain if you will. http://www.newswithviews.com/brownfield/brownfield59.htmÂ
"Creature From Jekyll Island" is a phenomenal book. |

| Most people who claim to be democrats, or liberals, really aren't. I have found that today's society seems to think if you believe in gay marriage and abortion, you are liberal, if you don't, your conservative. That just couldn't be further from the truth. Many, many issues are based on a personal belief and its just as personal and individualized as what you like for dinner. When you get down to the foundation of what these "titles" mean......I know very few people who would actually fit the title. If they did, they would be the biggest hypocrits on the planet. MOST people believe in hard work and taking care of those that can't. Period. These matters of the heart are real for both sides however A lot people that claim to be "liberals" work hard, have nice homes, make decent money, pay taxes,. ......they provide for their families.......and sometimes I wonder if the title "liberal" just makes them feel better inside or because its "popular". But what part of being liberal is it that they support? What part of the American dream do they not support? Do liberals really feel the government can take care of their families and make decisions for their families better than they can? Do they really want the government involved in our lives so much that they control what we do? Or do they just brag about being a liberal because they can't stand someone who makes more money than them? What is it? Explain equality to me. Do you want to push equality in the true sense of the word for everyone, or only when it "fits"....like for gay marriage? Do you believe, as a liberal, that if you have worked at your job for 20 years, have advanced and taken on more responsibility that the guy they just hired yesterday should make as much as you? If not, why not? Isn't that equality? If not, then doesn't that create different social classes? Shouldn't it? Do you believe that social class is necessary in a free society? And what about these "big corporations" that everyone complains about? Did someone take a risk and start a business and become successful at one time and now employs hundreds of Americans? As a liberal, who do you work for? What would you do if you didn't have that "big Corporation" to work for? Would you settle for a much smaller home? An older car? Sitting at home with nothing to do while the government takes care of you? I could go on for days......but these are questions that need to be asked. At the end of the day....can you truly call yourself a liberal? |

| Don't liberals teach their kids the value of an education? The value of hardwork? Do they want their kids to go to college? If so, why? Is it because you want your kids to succeed and live the dream? Its gotta be. Otherwise, why would you do it? So your kid can go to college and be a Doctor and get paid as much as someone who works for Mcdonalds? None of it makes sense. The bottom line is...MOST of us believe in the same things...yet we have been separated by political parties and then of course add race into the picture for even further division. If your a conservative and white, then your a racist. Really? Does anyone, including all you liberals not see what is at work here? The dumbing down of America. Divide and conquer. We are falling for it, hook, line and sinker. If you truly cared about your kids and your grand kids futures, you would take a good, long look at the foundation of your beliefs.....what defines you and who you are. We need to all look WAY beyond what we believe to be a standard title and try to vote in the people that stand for what we believe in. Independent thinkers is what we need. |

Location: Gainesville, TX | What's really funny is the extreme left and extreme right look the same, lots of government. The extreme left is socialism, that would be NAZIs, and the extreme right is Fascism, like Mussolini in Italy. I think Communist countries with their strong dictators look a lot like both.
Everyone will go on and on about various founding fathers and what they want. Alexander Hamilton certainly wanted a strong federal government. And without government (I don't care about political parties) you would not likely have had something like the Civil Rights Movement which was necessary. Sometimes when we stick our hands in our pockets and say "I don't wanna" like kids we need to have our butts busted and be forced to do something. That is why Thomas Jefferson thought government was a necessary evil. But the more government we have the more evil we have too. It must be balanced. We need enough to keep us functioning and keep us honest, but not enough to trip us up. Unfortunately once you are on top you want to stay and will violate ethical principles to do so. With politics comes power; with power comes corruption. It's all enough to make you want to go light your head on fire.
Watch the documentary Zeitgeist. It's interesting.
All that being said, I'm not a huge fan of our current system and probably as close to a Libertarian as they come. I'm all for gay marriage because I don't think the government has a right to legislate that anyway. And my husband took a conlaw class. The statement in the Constitution about the federal government's right to regulate all interstate trade and exchanges is scary. It can allow them to do almost anything based on interpretation. Not even those guys had everything right.
So I'll continue to be an independent . . .
Politics is a compound word. Poli meaning many and ticks meaning bloodsuckers.
I like that Ted Cruz stuck up for what he believes in. good president? I'm not so sure about that.
Okay so that was a really disorganized, political wondering. Look at the Clare Graves' Value System. I'm at level six, heading to seven. I feel like I have to listen to everything until I can make up my mind on the best plan.

And the land grab continues and the government makes it so no one can enter all in BS of protecting the envirnonment. I would say they wouldn't have to get anyone off the land they are about to give to someone else. JMO |

| If it's true, and who the heck knows these days, forced voting would fall into the favor of the Dems since most minorities don't bother to vote. Gee, I wonder why Obama thinks this is a good idea? It this type of reasoning, the ID issues that half this country can't understand the logic of the Democratic party. Its begining to look a lot like communism.....everywhere you go..... |
