We were thinking we may want to try and go to either the youth world or world show in barrels. It says youth show has no qualifications. So you just have to fill out the entry forms and pay the fees and go?

World show says 2 events with 4 judges. Does the 4 judges apply to speed events? Do you have to place at these events or just enter? If so is there a point requirement? It says you have to be a APHA member....can you be a AjPHA member and still participate? Also where can I find the most complete list of incentive/APHA sponcered races to get our required events?

Also what are the differnces in classes and what are the qualifications for each class such as novice amateur, amateur, open-junior, etc.?

Thanks

Join a PBRIP and then attend an event to get qualified. You can do it in one weekend.http://www.apha.com/pbrip

For youth world, enter and go. If you have AJPHA membership, that is fine. Still need a PBRIP membership.

For open / amateur world show - apply for PBRIP and current APHA member go to 2 PBRIP approved jackpots and you are qualified. You do not have to win or place. You are qualified to do any classes at the world show.

Amateur is you do not get paid to train or give lessons,
Novice Am is you have less than 10 points in showing,
Open is for people who do train but it's open for you as well to enter.
Junior is on the horse, ages 5 and under.
Senior is horses 6 and over.......hope this helps!!

Thanks, info was a big help. My daughter is an AjPHA "lifetime" member (until she turns 18). So we need to also get my daughter an APHA membership as well? At least to go to the world open show?

You can register for the incentive program the day of the event correct?

Your horse needs to be a regular registered paint (with color) in order to run at PBRIB
or in the main classes at APHA shows or the World.

APHA changed the rules in January to match their race track colored rules for all
events which omit solid bred paints from competing in their main events ..

Pulled from the PBRIP website:

"
The Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program (PBRIP) has been created to increase opportunities and purses for its members who breed, promote and race American Paint Horse (APHA) barrel horses. PBRIP will be managed by APHA pursuant to the following Rules:
1. Horse Eligibility Rules The following rules must be complied with in order for a horse to be eligible to compete in a PBRIP side pot and/or to be eligible to receive any PBRIP incentives or awards.
a. ALL APHA registered horses foaled prior to January 1, 2013 will be allowed to participate in PBRIP. ALL FOALS FOALED ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 2013 MUST COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE.

b. ALL Regular registered horses foaled on or after January 1, 2013 will be allowed to participate in PBRIP.
