I don't know anyone who still uses it. It is very hard on their stomach. I had a cool calm gelding on it that developed stomach ulcers and pain was not an issue, so I suspect it may have attributed to him developing them.

I use it, and not sure where the person who said it is hard on the stomach got their info.

I last summer I had 4 horses on in mainly for preventative, I could see a visible difference in their legs after a few days of using.

No wind puffs, the legs were clean and tight.

I had one horse I thought I was going to have to do something medically with her hocks either inject or fuse, (very subtle signs of hock discomfort). Those signs went away after a weeks time.

I spoke with my vet about it and he likes the idea of lubrysin, not sold on it as there are no scientific studies to prove it. He says lubrysin (HA) is the best anti inflammatory prostaglandin inhibitor one could possibly get if it does work. (He is big on intraarticular injection to remove inflammation he also injects HA into tendons to reduce inflammation.

The horses I had on it 2 are ulcer prone to begin with so they get omeprazole day of races, the other two don't get ulcer meds and never showed any symptoms of ulcers.

I started using it on my dog who I was thinking I was going to put down, in three days he went from not being able to jump up on the bed to jumping up without a second look. It has tremendously helped his hips, he can now jump into the truck were before he had to be lifted, he has started coming with me on rides where before he hasn't went in approx 6 months. Before the lubrysin he was on a full pill of previcoxx now he is on 2/4-1/2 per day, I am weaning him down to see if he can go without. I have just started one other dog on lubrysin so I will see how she responds to it

In short I have seen great results in my horses, and my one dog

Edited to add I spoke to lubrysin and they have not had any complaints about the product causing ulcers, and say that the product doesn't have anything in it to cause the formation of ulcers.

I use it and have seen a good effect. We keep my teenage barrel horse on it and my husbands good heading horse on it.

My horse has been on it for a few years. I started giving him the shots of HA and saw a noticeable improvement. I didn't like the idea of giving him the shots every 3 weeks, so I started using Lurbrisyn instead of the shots. He has been working good ever since.

I've had quite a few vets tell me its worthless because it never makes it through the stomach acid to be useful. Dr. Hopper at Rood and Riddle told me point blank I was wasting my money on any oral joint supplement and might even be doing harm. There is no conclusive research to point it out stomach irritation other than human trails, its pretty much been phased out as a human supplement. Again I will state just my opinions and what I've been told.

The lubrysin company says it is absorbed before it ever makes it to the stomach, it is absorbed in the mouth and esophagus, not the stomach.

I have had great results using it. My farrier could not believe the increase in range of motion in my 16yr old mare's back legs. Before using it she was stiff and sore to shoe in the hind end

My horses also had ulcer symptoms from using it. Oxygen is the only HA that is buffered. Your not the only one who had issues with it. I have talked to many people who have had similar results. But not all from lubrisyn. Oral un buffered HA in general is suspected to have caused some issues.

I tried it but didn't feel like it made any difference. Went through an entire gallon and then switched back to Smartpacs.

This is the reason why, when I was using it, I would syringe it directly into the horse's mouths.  They would start licking their lips when they would see me coming with the syringe.  Of all my research on it, everything said it was absorbed in the mucous membranes in the mouth & esophigus and could NOT be absorbed thru the GI tract.  I would not waste my money putting it on my feed.
