| When I went out to feed at 5:30 this morning, I did not see my broodmare. I called her and she finally nickered at me. Walked over to find she had foaled. It was dark and everything looked OK. I went back in the house, got ready for school and went out to let all horses out then head for school. I checked on the foal and the umbilical cord was tangled all round the baby's feet. Called the vet and a substitute for school. Made it to the vet, got a little milk in her. She got a little perkier but took a turn for the worst about noon. She was born about 2 1/2 weeks early. I think being early and struggling to get up just was more than she could handle. What a cutie. Chromed out sorrel with four stockings and a blaze. Well, not gonna let this get me down. Will breed back and try for next year. Stallion owner is the best to work with so we will get it done.

| I have been thinking about this over and over. Last August I had to call the TX version of the EPA about dumping in the ditch near me. The water line is right there and was put in about 1975. I was having bad headaches and upset stomach. Quit drinking the water and all that stopped. The vet knows about this. I will check further into this. I did have a blood test for heavy metals a few months later and it did not show anything but I am not pregnant either. |

Location: Bandera, TX | Love your resiliency, so sorry for your loss however. Can you put her out there for a nurse mare. So many may need to "borrow" her for a few months. |

Mare is still at the vet because she has mastitis. |
