If they are full time professional trainers, it is unlikely that you will find them on here very often. It's kind of time consuming if you want to do it well. ;)

Location: Beggs, OK | I like hearing from trainers and seeing what they are up to, but I truly question the ones that seem to be on FB ALL DAY LONG. Marketing, I understand, but shameless self promotion and random BS are a not a sign of a professional, confident trainer.
Also, some of them seem to think that no ones paying attention to the background of their pictures... |

I like hearing from trainers and seeing what they are up to, but I truly question the ones that seem to be on FB ALL DAY LONG. Marketing, I understand, but shameless self promotion and random BS are a not a sign of a professional, confident trainer.
Also, some of them seem to think that no ones paying attention to the background of their pictures...

 Herbie maybe it's a good thing that we aren't involved in FB. I'd probably never get off the dang thing and I would run out of time for my regular life and riding.  |

Location: Loma Linda, CA | I train, but don't consider myself a professional :P I have apprenticed with quite a few pros and they were reiners, but I'm definitely not at their level :P
I mean I get paid, but I stay cheap cause I only take in 1-2 horses so I can focus on my 4-8 that I work at the ranch I work at lol.
But it's true I have very little time. I rarely ever get to go on BHW or any other forums. Generally I get home, crash and am up again at 5am to do it again.
Tonight was one of my rare nights I get to just hang out at home with netflix and the dogs and weekends are reserved for races :P

'Tis true, I train horses, give lessons and run client horses as a way of making my living. I have a rather unique gig though. I have one main owner. I am based off of their farm, have a good number of horses for them and so long as their horses are working well, or improving and the wife and daughter are doing well, I have job security. I am far more family than I am a trainer in this situation. They allow me to pretty well do as I please. If I want to load up and go to FL for the winter, I pick which horses I want to take, load up and go for as long as I want. Due to my situation, I can limit the number of outside horses that I want to bring in at any one time. It also allows me not to take in horses simply because I have to. If I feel like I want to take it easy (as I have for the better part of the winter) I can keep it to 5 or 6 head that I have to ride per day.
I walked away from a very good job in the Aerospace industry to ride horses full time. I do this because I love it and it makes me happy. I see no reason why a body shouldn't be able to train horses, teach lessons and still have a personal life. Many people actually do it. I mean, most of my social interaction happens at barrel races on the weekends and I rarely leave the farm, except to go to the feed store, but I have time to get online, as I take about a 20 minute break in between horses. I also designate a couple of "me" days per month and will just flat run off and hide. The folks here at the farm can get ahold of me if there is an issue, but beyond that... nope. Leave me be! lol |
