| I have a gritty little paint mare and i am liking this stud. She needs some stockiness aadded and the color i'd get would be amazing! I love his babies!!

| If it was me, (based on pedigree alone) I might look for a little more speed in a stallion pedigree for your mare. But, you know her, I don't :) |

If you are going to keep the baby, I think the match will work. I don't know much about your mare, but that stud would not be my pick. I'd also like something with a bit more run and reputation. |

| I'd plan on keeping the baby and eventually running him/her. I want to maybe go with a Paint since she is registered paint. Looking at Judys Lineage http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/judys+lineage

If you plan on barrel racing with your baby, I would choose a colored paint stud so that your baby will be eligible for PBRIP money (one parent must be regular-registry APHA.)
Judys Lineage fits the color and speed bill... There are LOTS of really nice running bred APHA stallions! Good luck with your search! |

He's a gorgeous paint and would give you the speed and stockiness I think.

| For a paint horse with those bloodlines, go BIG name. She has no names on her papers that show anything for me. I wouldn't bother with color and go for name and proven. Firewater Finale, Lions Share Of Fame, A Streak Of Fling, etc. Personally, I'd stay away from APHA, not enough speed to add to a non-speed mare. JMHO from someone also looking to breed a SPB mare from working lines. |

Please don't hate me ...but my two cents... we chose to own Paint horses and have apparently chose to breed them. So, IMO, it is our responsibility to preserve and even better the breed. Considering APHA describes the breed as a combination of color and stock-horse characteristics, it makes sense to me that we would actually consider color when breeding. Especially when we are being offered incentives such as PBRIP.
And, there are many options! Sons of Dash Ta Fame, Bully Bullion, Mr Eye Opener, Cartel Sucess, First Down Dash, Runaway Winner, etc... all with color! And, ample speed!

I agree. I know my mare doesnt have much on her papers but she more than makes up for it in her heart. She is gritty and works harder than i could have imagined. I can't ride her papers. I am not sold on APHA or AQHA. I'd just like some "beef" added to her. Color is a bonus but not critical. You guy have given me a lot to think on!! I just dont want something with a tendancy to be "hot and crazy". I'm not in my 20's anymore! |
